Jessica Goodwin. My next-door neighbour. The woman who unearthed the pleasant memories of my first and only crush. She is single. Seductive. Occasionally sassy. And my sworn enemy. Although things could have been different between us if …
… I hadn’t killed her cat on the very first day, she moved next door. It was an accident. Definitely an accident. But due to my lack of emotions, it appeared otherwise. Still, bad blood could have been averted. The unfortunate situation could be handled as adults. But she made the ultimate mistake of calling me an animal and struck a nerve. Now, I’m in a war against her. Which, according to my niece, Frankie, is a petty rivalry from my side only, and I should stop making a fool of myself. If only I would be able to do just that. I’m a typical sociopath who just has to put people down for his own fulfillment. A ruthless, vengeful, most anti-social, outlaw, son of a bitch who has nothing but time on his hand and skills to make her life a living hell. But to my surprise, there were some feelings left, or it’s she who has awoken them along with my cock. Why else would I steal glances of her? True, she is sexy as hell. Crafted by God himself on a Sunday with a mold that has since been broken. But that can’t be the reason enough for me to pull down my sunglasses down the bridge of my nose, stare at her un-blinked, and while enjoying the view, whisper to myself ‘Hey Neighbour.’ Or could it?
‘Hey Neighbour’ is an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romantic comedy featuring a quirky alpha living a recluse life and the girl next door who would make him want to live differently. It’s a full-length standalone romance with no cheating or cliffhanger and ends with a guaranteed HEA.
ARC. This was a different. Odin was not like anyone you will every meet. On the surface, you are thinking he is an unfeeling, rude jerk with an alcohol problem. He I’d but there is more too him. He keeps his true feelings buried. When he meets Jessica, she causes him to try to do better. It’s a long road with many failures. However, the journey is fun and you will find Odin’s behavior a little psychotic but in his own way he is doing what he thinks is best. Jessica moved from NY to Chicago to make a better life for her and her son, Charlie. She has her hands full with Charlie. He has better language skills at 5 than most adults. Which proves to be pretty funny. There is so much to say about Odin, his niece, Jessica and her son but no spoiling. Their relationships are unusual but work for them.

3 1/2 stars Odin Yorkshire is a very unusual character-to say the least- with his antisocial behaviour and sarcastic toughen up approach to life. Mind you there is more to his background that we slowly discover. He has very little concern for others except, eventually, Jessica. He does care about his niece, Frankie but shows it again in an odd way. Frankie, oh boy, I wanted to wrap that girl up and smuggle her away as quickly as possible. However, she could stand on her own two feet and with some female company started to bloom. Charlie, Jessica’s son, is a breath of fresh air in the story. Now, Jessica is the backbone to the story, I feel. She is the glue that holds everything together. I love the way she isn’t afraid to stand up to Odin and can be sassy in her comebacks.
There are some funny parts that do make you actually laugh out loud with some very witty expressions like this one... “Yeah...Henchman with a big wrench.” Odin has a way of talking that either makes you want to groan and slap him or chuckle. He is quite precise in his estimations but off the mark with others.
The story is quite complex and there are many parts which seem to become closed or solved and then the story moves on. With this small pieces of a much larger puzzle slowly start coming together, however, I found it was on the slower paced side as well as a tad confusing at times and these are the reasons why I gave it this rating. Even though there was so much packed into the story I enjoyed the story overall.
Odin is a complex character as there are parts of him that you will hate and parts that you won’t. He has no concept of what is deemed acceptable behavior but the fact that he is raising his niece shows that he has a heart. The way that he meets his new neighbor means that they don’t get off to a great start however he can’t stop thinking about her even if she wants nothing to do with him.
Jessica and Charlie, her son, have moved next door to Odin and his niece Frankie. Although Jessica and Odin didn’t get off to a good start that doesn’t mean she isn’t attracted to him and there is also his niece Frankie to consider.
There is no denying the humor and heat between Odin and Jessica and you can only admire Jessica’s patience when it comes to Odin.
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was a great having characters that are well developed and engaging and have plenty of chemistry. The flow of the storyline was steady and smooth.

This is my first book by this author and while I can tell that she tried, it just seems like it needs to have a proofreader to help with the overall pace of the story. I’m going to come out and say that this book jumped around a lot. I want to list positive thing but to be honest it’s so hard. I kept going, hoping that it was going to get better and sadly it didn’t.
Right from the start it seemed like scenes were cut short and just no real build up for what was going to happen next. One example is Odin meeting the neighbors, Jessica’s cat is dead and bam it (next chapter) time jumps to her at work and thinking about things that have made him a bad neighbor and knowing his name. Then her boss is inappropriate towards her and then we go to another chapter of Odin’s point of view and not knowing what happened with the perv boss. I mean really? That was just the start and while it seemed to get better at times, it really impacted my enjoyment of the book as a whole.. Just constant jumping around and no real closure with each chapter. (I will say about mid book it’s got better for a while but then it seemed to go back to jumping around.)
Odin was really hard to like. It felt like he tried way to hard to to act immature, if that makes sense. I mean, from my math he was in his mid 30s yet acted like a teenager and not in a good way. Atleast Jessica took her responsibilities to heart kinda. Her son Charlie was not believable for his age at all. I liked him until chapter 6 and then bam! He was not acting or even talking like 5/6 year old. He was like a teenager.
After about 20% into the book I really just lost interest in the overall book. I pushed forward because I wanted to see how it played out but I really just wanted to quit. I liked the plot, like the fact that neither character was perfect (even though I wish Odin would have grown up and acted like an adult and not an over grown toddler). I also liked seeing their banter with each other and the other characters That’s the only reason I’m giving it 2 stars.
I think that the author needs to get a strong beta reader that can help her with the transitions between the chapters and the time frame. Not only that but also maybe work on the characters more. I really wanted to like them but they didn’t feel relatable. Congrats to this author on their first book and I might be willing to give this author another chance in the future. 2 star #2OCCJD

Hailey Queen is brand new to me and she's got a brand new book out. Hey Neighbour is an all-new enemies to lovers romance that'll catch your attention immediately with that flashy cover and intriguing blurb *heyyyyy it did me!* and keep you hanging on with a few laughs and some good banter.
This is more of a "it's me, not you" kind of thing with this book. I had trouble connecting with the Odin and Jessica in this book and even more trouble staying invested in their journey, from pretty fairly early on. On paper they should've been perfect for me and right up my alley but something was missing and I'm sure it's on my end.
I'm going to keep this review short and sweet. Yes I only gave it three stars but please don't let that deter you from taking a shot. If this trope is a favorite of yours and that blurb catches your eye then you should totally take a chance on this author and this book.
This won't be the last time I read or try out Hailey Queen again.
I really didn't know what to expect going into this book, but I was pleasantly surprised by it! It was super cute and fun read! I loved the development of the characters relationship, it was definitely a fun relationship to watch unfold! If you want a cute, fun, fast book to read then I highly suggest one clicking this one!
I liked the story even though at times it was hard to follow and I found odin very insensitive not just with the way he spoke to people because he was abit of a jerk not showing his feelings and pushing people away but how he go completely jealous over breakfast with Jessica's dad but had 2 practically naked women in his house. Unfortunately that is not why the lower starts this book needs a big proof read, I get some mistakes slip through the cracks and for the most part I can ignore them but the constant typos of him/he or she/her had me rereading to check who was being spoken about and not always the correct gammer in places, it was almost like the Author has written it down as thinking it and not went back and corrected the wrongs which should of been picked up in proof reading especially as it was through the whole book. If this was sorted I would rate it higher
Hey Neighbour by Hailey Queen is the story of Odin Yorkshire and Jessica Goodwin. Jessica and her son move in to a new neighborhood where she meets Odin who isn't a nice person. Their first meeting is when he runs down her family cat and has no remorse. Odin is raising his niece after he much loved sister dies in childbirth. The town knows Odin and warm Jessica away from him but what can she do since she is committed to live in the house. Odin and Jessica have an attraction they can't keep away from. Although they both seem to hate each other they can't stop from coming together when they can't stop their attraction. This was a cruel hero but he did things because he cares but couldn't really express it in normal ways and sometimes they turned out mean to others.
This was a long and funny book. You read how people have love hate relationships and laugh. Thiers was real. Its was their way of communicating they loved each other. Weird but it worked. He did the same thing to Jessica just differently. He actually cared about her feelings and did right by her. He knew that he needed to change to even keep her. She was not a saint the whole time either but she stayed with him to make sure that he was doing better. It truly takes a humble person to do the right thing. About time.

Even in his thoughts, Odin is a crude man, "while ogling her, I slowly sip the wine, which is doing nothing for me. I prefer soft liquor at breakfast. For the night, I prefer hard, just like my * **k is right now." Wow Jessica knows how to spoil her man, “want to strip down to our underwear, and binge watch Netflix, eating pizza, while I run my foot up and down your leg.” I liked this book, okay, I kinda found Odin to be, quite frankly kinda dumb. It was hard for me to like him when he always acted well...stupid. I did however love Frankie and Jessica, Jessica's son.
A male character I loved to hate Excellent story, very well written, with a strong single mother, brave for whom trouble accumulates, and whose neighbor, is infamous, unbearable immature, with a 14 year old niece who is more mature than him. It is exciting, funny, touching, completely unpredictable because of the character of Odin, the egocentric neighbor that we discover slowly and to whom we finally forgive the excesses when we know him, even if he constantly surprises us by his reactions and that until the end of the story.
This story was a bit weird, but weird is ok. I couldn’t get a handle on Odin and who he really was so I felt a bit of a disconnect with him a lot. I wanted to love Him and Jessica together and it took a lot to get there, but I did.
I had an ARC with a lot of errors so I re-reviewed TBR final copy and there seems to have been some further editing so I am glad about that. A further review should be done again though.
I loved the ending and I was satisfied, even if I was still let a bit mystified.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength happiness and funny. The story of erotic sensation with happy hormones. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me to review your book

This is Odin and Jessica’s story, and these two have a grudge against each other ever since he accidentally killing her cat on moving day. I must be honest and say that it took me quite a while to warm up to Odin. This is a good story which is complex, and with witty banter, humour, love, and am enemies / friends / lovers’ scenario. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and look forward to reading more from this author.
Odin & Jessica... it was hard to like Odin though, he’s a crude man, even in his own head. Jessica has a grudge in Odin for killing her cat, she’s a single mother with a good head on her shoulders where Odin is obnoxious, it’s fun to see these two fall for each other. There really is someone out there for everyone, even the crude and obnoxiously men.

Ok so full disclosure, I had a hard time getting into the book, it was well written and the characters were awesome I just had a hard time getting into Odin, he was kind of a jerk and so it was hard to get into it. However the book is well-written and I did enjoy reading it.

The author does a great job developing the story and grabs you right from the start with all the drama, suspense, twists and turns as well as the romance. It's a page turner right to the end. Loved and recommend this book.

I was intrigued by the character description of Odin so I had to check it out but on paper he just seemed so insensitive once I got into it. Maybe this is a case of me and not you thing. I'm voluntarily reviewing this after receiving from Hidden Arcs.
This is an intense story line that holds your attention as you get caught up in the fierce twists and turns and hot chemistry. Lots of excitement. A thrilling must read, every page will have you enthralled and panting for more. Let’s not forget to mention the chemistry of these two.
This was a sweet, slow burn love story about second chances, and missed opportunities. This was a great read. The story was very well written with great characters. The story drew me in and I had it finished in one sitting. I would highly recommend this read.
