Forced to work together, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy lose their hearts to one another. But can they overcome their pride and their prejudice to find the felicity they both desire?
The Bingleys have quit Netherfield for London, leaving Jane heartbroken. So when Mrs. Gardiner requests Jane’s attendance, Elizabeth is certain Mr. Bingley will earn Jane’s affections. When Jane sends for Elizabeth, she learns that her older sister has a suitor, but it is not the affable gentleman she'd expected.
Mr. Darcy is adamant in his ways, but when he sees a less than suitable gentleman courting the woman his friend holds great affection for, he cannot stand idle. He enlists Miss Elizabeth Bennet’s assistance, taking her into his confidence about the sordid past of the gentlemanseeking her sister's favor. It is his hope to prevent the Bennets from scandal, even if he believes them a difficult family.
Thrown together in their attempts to ensure Jane and Charles’ happiness, Elizabeth’s heart opens to Darcy. Yet, when he confesses his part in Jane’s past sorrow, she finds herself conflicted. How can she love someone who hurt her sister so terribly?
This debut by author Clara Bell is joined be seasoned JAFF author, Nora Kipling to bring you a delightful sweet romance spanning over 200 pages featuring Our Dear Couple. We hope you enjoy it!
This story does not depart from canon much at all. The difference is mainly at the beginning when Darcy and the Bingley party depart Netherfield for London. Jane is sent to London (as in canon) in hopes that she will again see Mr. Bingley. However Wickham shows up and begins to visit/court Jane. Elizabeth then goes to London where she and Jane meet Darcy. Darcy at this point relates to Elizabeth much of what he knows about Wickham and he also proposes in a manner similar to that in canon. He is turned down. We again have Elizabeth visiting Charlotte in Hunsford and meeting Darcy there. However here we have Lady Catherine confronting Elizabeth in the manner she did at Longbourn demanding she promise never to marry Darcy. Darcy is off to save Lydia and…well the rest is as you might suppose. There is an epilogue. Again, much editing/proofreading is needed!
I read this story in a large collection of this author's stories (which a friend lent to me) and am posting each story separately as I read some of the stories in 2020 and now others in 2021 and want them to count in the goal for the year in which they were read.
