In this beautifully designed Bible study, you will find meditations on the Scripture encountered daily at Mass throughout the Advent and Christmas seasons. For the days of the O Antiphons, their biblical roots are explored. And when there are optional Memorial Mass readings, those are thoughtfully studied, opening contemplation with the beautiful saints of the season. Throughout the book, you will find ample room to dig deep and to journal. The team of excellent writers at Take Up & Read has crafted an extraordinary volume, and invite readers to enter into the beautiful practice of lectio divina with them.
Any bible study done by Take Up & Read is solid goodness. I'm doing another advent study at the moment, so I read ahead on this one to finish prior to Christmas. This study is dated for a prior year, but you can easily overlook that and focus on the content. My favorite quote is about halfway through the study on page 101: "If it doesn't bring glory to God, it isn't worth your time or energy. If it doesn't bring glory to God, it doesn't bring you closer to the creche. And that's the whole point of Advent: to grow closer to the Holy Family sheltered in humility."
Lectio Divina is my favorite way to pray. This Advent/ Christmas devotional helped make my Advent and Christmas extra spiritual and meaningful. I have read almost every Take Up and Read book and never been disappointed.
