Willow Creek #8.6

The Angel Tree

Rate this book
When you wish upon a Christmas angel, all your dreams come true.

Or so Miranda Talbert’s grandmother used to tell her. But growing into the role of Willow Creek’s resident spinster proved that it takes more than little girl wishes to make dreams come true. Sometimes it takes a bit Christmas magic and for fate to step in and give us exactly what we want in ways we least expect it.

The Angel Tree is a 40,000-word stand-alone story in the historical western, Willow Creek Series. You do not have to read the series in order to read this book. This is 'not' a sweet romance.

Lily Graison is a USA TODAY bestselling author of historical western romances. She also writes a variety of genres under the name L. R. Grasion. Most all of her stories lean heavily to the spicy side with strong female leads and heroes who tend to always get what they want. On occasion, she can be found penning ‘sweet’ romances with chaste kisses and wholesome values. Ever a romantic, she believes in love at first sight and has a tendency to fall for bad-boy romance heroes.

The Angel Tree.

A lovely Christmas story that leaves you with a warm glow.

Miranda Talbert is regraded as the town spinster. For years she has set her cap at Evan Reid the town’s doctor but that spark between them just never ignited. Just as she is accepting she will die an old maid and never have the home and family she dreamed of she hears that Patrick Thompson is looking for a wife. Without thinking she rushes out to the mercantile to ask Mrs Jenkins if the rumour is true.

Patrick is a widower with two rambunctious sons and a baby girl to raise while running his farm. He doesn’t want to marry again after his experience with his first wife. However, he is burning out fast and he knows his children need a mother.

The Angel Tree follows their story. As usual with the Willow Creek series we get to know and love the characters. All is not sweetness and light; Ms Graison knows how to pace her stories and adds the right amount of tension.

Willow Creek and its inhabitants are beautiful drawn and it is always a pleasure to meet friends old and new there.

Spicy in parts.

Beautiful Christmas story

This is one of the first Christmas book I've read this year and I'm off to a great start. Both Patrick and Miranda sacrifice a part of their lives to give 3 children the life they deserve. The five of them together carve out a new life together and the result is a family that can withstand anything together. The wrong of the book is flawless and so enticing I couldn't put the book down. It's sweet and simple but the author wove her magic and gave us a book we will read every Christmas from now on.

I loved the gentle discovery of Miranda and Patrick. No grand romance, no burning need, but a marriage Patrick needs to care for his children, and an opportunity Miranda couldn’t pass up. They both had expectations, and stayed to those. The more they got to know each other, the more they realized any apprehensions they had were unfounded. Of course, two rambunctious boys and a sweet baby girl help tie their bonds even tighter!

This is a sweet story about two people who desperately need each other for different reasons. Together they find the love and joy they never knew existed. Lily Graison captures the reader in this book and it's hard to put down. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed "The Angel Tree". I was a sweet, romantic read! Although it started off as a marriage of convenience, with a lot of shyness and hesitation on both sides, Miranda and Patrick made a very good match.

I am looking forward to book #9 and #10 in the series (yet to be released as I write this). I also find myself wondering if Dr. Evan Reid will find his match? Only time will tell :)

The Willow Creek Series is absolutely lovely. I am glad I discovered Lily Graison, and I look forward to reading many more of her western historical novels... her Silver Falls series is on my "to buy" list, and will probably be added to my reading list very soon.

Miranda and Patrick

This was such a sweet story. I wish it had been longer truth be told, but I’m so thrilled Miranda got a happily ever after. Patrick and she really balanced each other out well and as always the found family story trope did me in. The boys were adorable and little Eva was as well.

Loved this story. I hope she writes one about Evan. I've read all her historical westerns and loved them all.

I won’t lie, part of me was irritated that we didn’t get Miranda and Dr Reid together since their appearance in the whole series leaned that way, however, Miranda and Patrick made my heart so happy.

How quickly she took to being a mother to Patrick’s kids and how his reservations about her character changed when he saw how she looked at his babies made me giddy.

The development of Miranda’s character was so wholesome, and I’m so happy that she has gotten her HEA with a man, and a group of kids, that deserve her.
