First volume of a two volume set. The culmination of many years of study and research by one of the great Samuel scholars of our time. While I may not agree with everything Garsiel says, I learned a ton!

This is a very useful resource on the history of early Israelite monarchy and the composition and editing of the book(s) of Samuel. However, it is quite repetitive and frequently cites part two which has not been published yet. I await part two which promises to provide a more complete picture.
