I use Goodreads to track my reading and TBR list. For that reason, my rating scale is less important. I don't force myself to finish books, and I don't rate books I DNF. Each year I choose my own BOTY from my have-read list.

This collection contains three mystery novellas that take the reader under the sea for stories starring three mermaid sisters, the daughter of the leader of their community of Sirenia. Up first, Zoe finds a mystery after she rescues a diver at a shipwreck she loves to explore. Next, Kyra discovers something strange happening at the vault of cultural treasures. Finally, Ava must step into leadership earlier than expected when someone kidnaps Mother.
Each of the three novella is only 90 pages each, so they are easy reads, but they are delightful. They are part coming of age tales, and watching the sisters grow is remarkable. We get to see the other characters from three sets of eyes, so it is fun to see how the different sisters view those around them. The undersea world is brought to life with a delightful attention to detail; there are many elements that made me smile, and I’d love to dive in for a visit if I could only breath underwater. The mysteries themselves are good and compelling. One ended a bit abruptly, but that was a minor complaint. If you want to try something different with your mysteries, this collection is for you.
NOTE: The novellas were originally released individually as ebooks before being combined into this electronic and print collection. Make sure you aren’t buying the same content a second time, but by all means, buy it once.
It was brilliant ! Extremely well-written stories filled with excitement.
Like basically all women who grew up in the 90’s, I was indoctrinated with the notion that all mermaids were happy, singing chicks with red hair and a green tail, and they were all supposed to fall head over tails in love with a human prince and secretly dream of becoming human themselves.
Boy, was I wrong.
In Diane’s stories, mermaids and merman are people too, so to say. They deal with leadership, organization, rules, grief, fear, pride, uncertainties, courage and love. Just like we do. I adored each of the sisters. I strongly recommend purchasing ‘Mermaid Mysteries’ and find out for yourself ! And hopefully, if enough people love it like I do, Diane will one day return to the sisters for more of their adventures!
This compilation of Diane Vallere's three mermaid books works beautifully. Each story is from the perspective of one of three mermaid sisters and each is a complete story in itself. At the same time the story grows and evolves for an overall & very satisfying completion at the end. The characters are relatable, the stories compelling, the writing excellent. Suitable for and recommended to any age, any mermaid fans, cozy mystery fans, & fans of fantasy.
What a delightful series! Come along for adventures in the undersea world of mermaids. As expected of this author, the writing is top-notch, the plot is tight and multi-layered, and the characters are well drawn and believable. I received these books free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
