I have another trip ahead. I am about to face the Order for the first time.
We've solved one problem, but before we stopped Murphy, he managed to pass some information on to the Order. The damage is done, and our lives and the mission are in danger once again.
I'm eager to get into this fight, and I convince Nate to take me with him. Am I ready for that? I don't know. But there's a first time for everything.
It's also time for Nate to answer the question I'm yearning to, and at the same time dreading to ask. Are our feelings strong enough to withstand the truth?
OMG omg what a book. Action packed with twists and turns. Lana Melyan did not pull any stops to write this book.
Book 5 in the series, the story explored the depth of Nicky and Nate's relationship and the strength of other friendships. It continued from the previous book, with the Order, the villains wanting to get to the Secret books. I loved the way the group planned and saved their friend. The action sequence was well written.
Then came the shocker of a secret which gave an added zing to the story. It made it interesting and tested their love. Quite a wicked way the author showed by writing that.
Overall I enjoyed this book far more than the rest. I hoped the next would be more of a kick-ass.
This is the fifth ‘episode’ in the YA fantasy series from Lana Melyan. Another enjoyable quick read for an accomplished reader and a less daunting novella for a less confident child/YA. There is action, relationship drama and importantly the right blend of developing the characters and revealing more about the magical world and telling a short story about a series of events. A lovely series so far.
Recap: Nicky comes to terms with murder and together with her Scooby gang find another way to charge the sword.
Review: This is probably the episode with the most action for sure but there are also some great character developments and more backstory & world building. We're really getting a good feel for everyone. I'm still waiting for that double cross lol! It's super fast paced but it's a novella so it's got to cram everything in quickly. I've gone up to 4 stars because I keep coming back to the series, it's a quick read, ideal for busy mum life and the characterisation is consistent. At the moment we have a no cost magical system which is a little naive but hopefully there will be some big consequences.
The family tree by Lana Melyan. An absolutely fantastic read. Loved the story and some of the characters. Even though it is a short story it packed a lot of action. Love this series. Looking forward to the next book. 5*.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is Book (Episode) Five of The Weight of Magic series. This is a fast-paced, easy and short read, perfect for a quick jump into an exciting world of witches, high school, vampires, and danger. This novella series is an exciting ride with unexpected turns and twists; it's like a TV show in a book form. You're one click from starting your binge-read.
She has another trip ahead, and she’s about to face the Order for the first time. They’ve solved one problem, but before they stopped Murphy, he managed to pass some information on to the Order. She doesn’t know, but there's a first time for everything. It's also time for Nate to answer the question she’s yearning to, and at the same time dreading to ask. Are their feelings strong enough to withstand the truth? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.
The excitement begins to pick up a little more in this next instalment. There is another trip ahead where Nicky and her friends will come up against The Order for the first time. She has her usual insecurities about Nate and whether they can stay strong through the storm, will he let her come along and help or will he expect her to stay behind and leave others to fight her battles for her?
Having defeated her evil cousin in the last instalment, Nicky really is now the last Callahan but the question hangs in the balance; do The Order know she exists?
The relationship dynamics are great in this book and they develop to new depths as they are tested more than in the others. It’s interesting learning more about the Callahan family history as the books go on and more to learn about the magical world.
There is a lot more action in this than in the previous books which is great to see, again it’s a short novella so a quick hour or two to read and easy to fit in around other things. I’m really enjoying the format of these and they feel very much like a TV series in the way they are written.
The First Fight: The Weight of Magic, Episode 5 ~~ I absolutely loved 💖💕💞💗 this book! loved this! We found out about another Callahan from a branch of dark magic. They put a barrier around the door of the tree so Nicky would know if it was breached. When it is, he does a spell to try to kill Nicky, not knowing who she was. We also learn how Nate became immortal, and it's heartbreaking. A series that needs to be followed through to the end. I definitely recommend this series (episodes)!
What a way to kick off the new year, reading the next instalment from this brilliant series.
Each short story hold a the right mix of family history, magic and romance to hold your attention. I devoured this instalment this morning and loved it.
The relationship dynamics are great and I am curious to keep learning about the family history and the links between Nate's family and Nicky.
I can't wait to read the next book as am loving this series and will miss them when I reach the end.
I loved this! We found out about another Callahan from a branch of dark magic. They put a barrier around the door of the tree so Nicky would know if it was breached. When it is, he does a spell to try to kill Nicky, not knowing who she was. Can they stop him from turning everything over to The Order? We also learn how Nate became immortal, and its heartbreaking. A series that needs followed through to the end.
This book wasn't as good as the last four. Things are progressing but at a snails pace,i would like to see more action as the only things that was happening was falling out and misunderstandings. These small chapters need to pick up there pace and action like the first few books.
This is the 5th book in this Young Adult paranormal series. It’s a well written quick read with enough character development to satisfy even the most dedicated reader. A great series that is continuing to develop from book to book Thank you
A fight takes place. The group goes home. Not everyone agrees with stuff. Nikki is confused about stuff, again. This book was kind of boring for me. It just didn't connect with me like the others did. Kind of a let down.
I started this series on June 14th and only just finished the series on June 16th. It a definite page turner since you really want to know what happens next. Which is why I didn't do a review when I finished the first book but after I finished the series.
The First Fight is the next in the series of books by Lana Melyan in which Nicky is fighting to save her families magical heritage. She's a witch and her boyfriend, Nate, is immortal, her best friend is a witch and her boyfriend a vampire. Having defeated her evil cousin in the previous book, she really is the last Callaghan and not only is she learning to use her new magical skills but also how she and her friends can defeat an order of Black Witches out to destroy her. The Black Witches don't know she's a Callaghan, or do they. Can Nicky and her group of friends defeat The Order before they unleash their dark magic on the world. During all this, Nicky is also struggling with normal teenage angst, does Nate really love her? Why is nothing simple? This book is another easy pocket sized read for anyone who enjoys some YA fantasy fiction.
Fifth nook in the brilliant series The Weight of Magic. Any reader of the supernatural will enjoy this series. These are quick-read novellas, finished in a couple of evenings meaning you don’t have long to wait for the next part and none of the sometimes frustratingly long descriptions.
Story continues with the issue of Murphy passing on the information he discovered to the Order, so again it is a race against time, against the order and against the destructions of Nicki’s family heritage. She must save everything her family worked and died for.
It’s action packed book, delving even deeper into friendships and relationships and another fab instalment in this great series.
