A young girl travels from the city to the country, describing phases and aspects of the moonlight with a heartfelt understanding of beauty. This lovely read-aloud for ages 0 to 5 takes children on a journey steeped in the magical wonder of the moon and its Creator. "God put it there for all to see, but especially because He loves me."
What a lovely bedtime story about God's creation to read as you snuggle with your little ones. The engaging illustrations of the changing moon match perfectly with the beautiful story.
When my son (who has autism) was a child, he loved to watch the moon. He used to pace back in forth in the backyard, face tilted to the sky. Whenever we drove at night, he loved to find the moon. And he would watch it through his bedroom window.
This book--with the lovely story line and beautiful pictures--reminded me of those wonderful days and his joy over seeing the moon. I just love this book!
This book immediately takes me back to gazing at the moon as my family traveled back from family visits or errands, watching as it seemingly followed me home outside the car window. The author and illustrator tap into the sweet comfort of the moon's familiarity and how it's simultaneously so personal yet universal through beautiful illustrations and equally wonderful words. A great read aloud for young children likely to become a family favorite!
With gorgeous illustrations and beautiful, straightforward prose, Erin Broestl and Jeanie Egolf have created a marvelous book for young children. The book serves as a wonderful introduction to the phases of the moon, as well as its influence on us as human beings and its source in the love of God. Every home with young children should have this book on its shelves!
This book will take you back to your childhood! At least it did me! It has a mesmerising quality about it. The stillness of the moon and its lovely, round and creamy white character takes us to a stillness that not many earthly objects can do. It's in this stillness that children will find the beginnings of meditation and prayer as the stillness takes them to the core of their being. I find this book really unique in what it does in a short span of pages...and teachers and priests may have difficulty in helping children achieve this over years. The illustrations, of course, have a lot to do with creating atmosphere and drawing us into this stillness. Brilliant, Jeanie Egolf!
Simply the perfect bedtime story for young children, Erin Broestl crafts beautiful language to both sooth and instill innocent wonder in little ones' hearts.
