Poor Ralph wishes for a special promise from God, then finds under his pillow a precious jewel, invisible to most other people, which shows him scenes of all God's past promises to man.
"Poor Ralph" is a children's book illustrating the belief that every individual can make God's Biblical promises an integral part of their identity. Ralph is a poor man who doesn't embrace the weight of poverty because he has the wealth of literacy. Most importantly, Mitchell shows children that the poorest man with God's promises is richer than the wealthiest man without God.
