There are two sorts of player in any game, those who stands out because of their skill, and those who are characters. Jack Russell probably falls mostly into the second category, for while he was a very good wicketkeeper, he wasn't the greatest batsman, and he his probably more famous now for his twitchiness and quirks as a player.

This book is an autobiography of his life. He doesn't come off as the "great I am" in the book, freely admitting he liked to have a few drinks when he was young for example. If you want to know what international, and county, cricket was like in the 1980s and 1990s, you could do worse than read this book.
