Impressions of Guatemala: a memoir

My third trip in 2017 included my new husband (and old friend and painting teacher) Paul Donaldson who, on our return home, began a two year project painting the people and scenes of the Mayan towns we visited. I began writing poems and short essays about some of the memorable people I met and have put them together with photos to share my Impressions of Guatemala.In these recent days of political scapegoating of Central American refugees, I wanted to share my admiration for the Guatemalan people I encountered. We need not wall them out, but to open our arms and hearts to them.
