Die-cuts and flaps to lift make this sturdy board book appealing and useful for youngsters. Part of a collection of eight books devoted to tracks found in various places, this one focuses on mountain tracks. Youngsters can trace the tracks, guess who or what made them, make a prediction, and then lift up the flap to determine if the prediction was right. They can also peek through the die-cuts to help them make their guess. Inside the book, they'll find tracks from a gorilla, a hare, a girl, a bear, and a shepherd and his goats. I love those visual hints that encourage youngsters to guess, and then, once they know the track-maker, putting the flap and what's under it together in their minds. This book is a great way to introduce some of the elements and inhabitants of mountains.
