Those of us who have come to love and appreciate the desert terrain will not be surprised at its many beauties highlighted in this board book. But for those who consider that it must be barren, they will be delighted to follow the tracks of five different species--a lizard, a desert fox, a vulture, a camel, and two humans--as they or an animal companion leave tracks in the sand. There are flaps to lift in order to reveal the identity of the creature whose tracks readers are following. I appreciated that there are two sets of tracks to follow in one case and that the book provides images of the habitat for these desert denizens. As is the case with the other titles in this appealing series, youngsters can guess what animal might be making those tracks, make predictions, and make note of the various aspects of life in the desert. This is a good title to develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity about the desert and animal--or machine--tracks.

This is an adorable book! My 8 year old liked reading it with my 5 year old.
