Okay, so I would be lying if I didn’t say I’m looking forward to closing out this series soon. It’s a cute shoujo with beautiful artwork, however it’s getting repetitive and stretched beyond what it needs to be.

We start off volume nine with a story of Dantalion “missing” and Eurynome experiences a short memory loss. Eurynome becomes “normal” and forgets her attraction towards younger boys. Samyaza spends his time helping Eurynome remember and almost confesses to Eurynome until her memory comes flooding back quite suddenly. I enjoyed this story since we got to see a different side from both characters with their feelings and thoughts more clearly depicted. It’s a calm story with a lot of blushing scenes!

The next story is set around Astaroth and Sargatanas accidentally getting stranded on an island while out on a company retreat to the beach. It was the first time in a while we revisit their thoughts for each other but sadly there’s not much progress. I was hoping we would get to see more growth in their relationship and possibly a reason why Astaroth is so carefree but maybe next volume?

Another romance slowly progressing is Mullin and Beelzebub’s. The third story in this volume is about Beelzebub visiting Mullin’s house for soumen and Samyaza being the wing-man. This was a fun story and although Beelzebub just re-confirms her strong feelings for Mullin, Mullin is slowly starting to realize his own. I found this chapter a bit funny with Samyaza sending side dishes through the bamboo shoots as well.

The fourth story revolves around Maruko, Beelzebub and Belphegor’s childhood friend. The three friends have a sleepover at Maruko’s place and relish their love interest and progress. It’s also a very cute story depicting multiple scenes of understanding and friendship between the three. It was cute and yet it somehow made me sad that I don’t have friends who trust me like this.

The last story in this volume which probably has the most growth in any relationship is Belphegor’s and Azazel’s. Both have a chance meeting in a secluded place where it seems not many visit. Belphegor finally realizes how her sudden running to the washroom appears from Azazel’s perspective and decides to resist her urges and indulge in a picnic with Azazel. I must say that I was very surprised to see Belphegor’s progress in this chapter as she was able to hold a proper conversation with Azazel without any help from their friends.

Overall, this volume was primarily repetitive but I can see those in a romantic relationship starting to get closer. This volume provided the scenarios and we saw how they panned out based on the events in the manga so far. Definitely some need a bit more work but each of them seem to be progressing in some way and form. I noticed the next volumes have our main romantic pairings on the cover and a few with wedding dresses so I’m eagerly looking forward to those!
