I didn't have high hopes for this book. I've read this author's other books (猫と狸と恋する歌舞伎町(新潮文庫), 獣に道は選べない(新潮文庫), 屋上のウインドノーツ) and was mildly entertained but not much. Since the author is around my age, I thought this was going to be yet another coming of age YA story set in high school.
But oh boy. It was much more than that. First, like us readers, the protagonist has NO idea what happened in the past because he has amnesia due to an accident. Second, there are these creepy incidents involving the number 7.6. Third, some people are acting unlike themselves. (or maybe not?) Added to these intrigues are the short sentences about love (by an unknown person) at the beginning of each chapter.
I won't say anything to spoil the twist, but I would say that I had a pleasant surprise. Loved it.
