The King's youngest son sees the fabulous Firebird and presents his father with a feather which lights up the whole room. From that moment the King is obsessed with a wish to own the bird and sends his three sons to find it and bring it to him. The first and second sons fail miserably in their task. All then depends on the youngest son's success. He embarks on a challenging quest and faces many obstacles and tests before he carries the day.

This popular story, originally from Czechoslovakia, has been given a brilliant new interpretation by Moira Kemp, whose first book, Cinderalla, was published in 1981.
