Elspeth Callum...Alpha of the Shadow Moon Clan. He is dark, ruthless, and his clan has a reputation as barbaric as their leader. They take what they want and will kill anyone who stands in their way.
When Elspeth leads the charge to take over a small, little-known island, he is caught off guard when he discovers amongst the islanders is his mate.
Iosefa Hanrae is a gentle spirit who lives peacefully with his family on his island.
He longs to one day find his mate and start a family, but when the infamous Elspeth invades, he is disappointed to find that having a mate isn’t exactly the tell-tale romance he’d always read about.
3.5 stars Elspeth is the alpha of the Shadow Moon Clan. He is violent and has many enemies. Every pack in the neighborhood has got a visit from the Shadow Moon Clan. Now he tries to expand his territory and will go the friendly Oceania Clan to conquer them. What Elspeth didn’t expect was to meet his fated mate Iosefa, a beautiful innocent young man. Iosefa knows the alpha is violent but the attraction is undeniable. In exchange for the lives of his family and clan, Elspeth wants Iosefa to go with him.
Elspeth is confused by his feelings, things he never felt before. Iosefa doesn’t want to give in but he only can open his heart for the wolf who never known love before.
A nice story, the feelings of confusing from the great alpha were well done, also the innocence of Iosefa. In my opinion, Elspeth wasn’t that violent. I expected a more gritty story, but it was quite light and sweet. The main and secondary characters were slightly but enough developed. The plot was good. The danger from outside the Shadow Moon Clan was palpable. The ultimate revenge and the end felt satisfying.
this was a semi dark story in ways.. the alpha was mean.. and dark.. but at the same time so very broken and just wanted love.. his omega was interesting and timid.. but became who he needed to be as well.. it was interesting to watch come about.. they became who they both needed to be.. it was good
When Iosefa is taken from his home by the dreaded alpha Elspeth his world is turned upside down. The attraction between the two is strong and cannot be denied but while Iosefa is a peaceful man Elspeth is as dangerous as they come. Will these two men ever be able to meet in the middle and find a way to happiness or are they doomed from the start?
I enjoyed Iosefa and Elspeth’s story. It is an engaging and interesting read. Watching their relationship take shape made for a nice read. As mean as Elspeth is, he finds a better side of him with Iosefa by his side. The two work hard to understand each other and find a way to compromise. While the two men are trying to find their way Elspeth’s past comes back to haunt him. As we are taken along for the ride with Iosefa and Elspeth we are treated to the main men in the pack and especially Dimitri the loyal beta of the pack. I would have liked a little more world and character building but as a whole this was a nice read. I enjoyed seeing how everything changes with the arrival of Iosefa and hope that we get to return to this world and see just what will happen next for this pack.
4.5 stars I thought this was a great, quick read! It starts right in on the action of Alpha Elspeth Callum wanting to take over an island that belongs to another clan (Pack). In trade for not taking over, Elspeth will accept his mate, Iosefa, - even tho Iosefa does not want to go with him. Iosefa is very sweet and sensitive but becomes a perfect mate for Elspeth and Elspeth’s heart opens to his mate, even tho it took a while for his heart to unharden! I enjoyed the kind of enemy to lovers feel of the book. Because I enjoyed it, I didn’t need to skim over it or skip parts like I do with books that I find boring, too long or too slow. It kept my interest the whole time. I can’t wait to read Dimitri’s story or whatever book comes next in the series!! I definitely recommend. ❤️🐺
Elspeth was a thug without any redeeming qualities, until suddenly, he was completely different. How did Iosepha "see" his mate, and have observed his innate goodness within 24 hours of meeting him where Elspeth had nearly killed Sepha's father, and had consistently bullied his new mate? What gave Sepha any clue that his mate was capable of loving him? Why did Sepha faint more readily than a gothic heroine; shouldn't the doctors be a little concerned about it?
Overall, I was pretty disappointed in a series that sounded like it had promise. I might go ahead and read further to see if this series gets better, but this wasn't an impressive introduction.
Reluctant Mate is the first book in the Shadow Moon series by H Q Kingsley and Beau LeFebvre. It is a shifter Mpreg Romance and an enjoyable, entertaining read. Elspeth and Iosefa are fantastic characters who pulled me into their world. I like the enemies to lovers type of story it delivers. I cant wait to see where the series leads.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Does finding your true mate absolve you of all the horrendous crimes you comitted? NO.
The alpha Elspeth always was a villain until he met his mate. Suddenly he becomes kinder and doesnt get why so many others loathe him. I deleted this book. The Omega didnt care about all the horrible things his mate did, which was kinda weird. The villain alpha was only like that because of Elspeth so is it really a HEA when the evil Elspeth gets everything he wants? NO.

2.75 Stars. The Alpha started off as a real jerk, but did come around and improve his interaction with his omega mate and others. However, there were world building issues, loose ends, aspects not fleshed out enough.
What a book, up and down. Emotions are all over the place. And I enjoyed it greatly. Their story was well written, can't wait to see what the next book brings to the story of this pack.
I really loved this book it starts off very typical but takes you on a journey of change that is truly beautiful 😁 would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good alpha/omega story 😁
