Grade 9 and up: After surviving a hurricane, 17 year-old Nadifa Duale finds himself imprisoned and enslaved deep beneath an empty expanse of North American farm country--a place where men with ambitions of racial cleansing come to practice their nightmares unchecked on those declared missing. But when a mad scientist’s experiment to hold onto power goes terribly wrong, Nadifa and his fellow captives find themselves in a new kind of fight for survival, one where they might be thankful for the electric fence surrounding their prison.Because now, the dead do not stay dead.
Author of The Infernal Guard Trilogy, I live between New Mexico and Punjab with my husband, two daughters, and extended relatives, traveling around Asia and Europe reluctantly as those who get nauseated in modes of transportation will understand. I grew up attending boarding school in Northern India and always dreamed of being a writer. Thanks to Amazon and self-publishing, dreams really do come true.
When I read a Singh book, I just know I’m going to love it and while each of the author’s books are different, each one is just as wonderful. Babylon is no different! It’s gripping, unique, well thought out with twists and “wow” moments. Highly recommend this!
Loved this book so much. It was so interesting that I stayed up to finish it . The story is based on urban Fantasy and Zombies in the YA category. I always enjoy S G D Singh's books and I think those are what got me into young adult fiction. This story is more of a mix of the Holocaust, the Zombie Apocalypse and the use of advanced technology. I really liked the characters and identified with them in some way. Once I started reading it I knew I had to finish it ... it was that amazing. Thanks once again for the wonderful book S.G.D Singh.
Loved this one! So full of suspense and the zombie aspects are amazing. I found myself having to keep reading even with life going on around me so i could find out how it all ends. Her best book so far and thats saying a lot since they are all wonderful! A must read for everyone!
How well do you know the people you blindly trust daily? I just finished In the Heart of Babylon. As always, S.G.D. Singh does not disappoint. This is the most unique and original zombie story I have ever read. If you take everything you know about the Holocaust and combine it with Get Out and The Walking Dead you might have a small idea of what to expect. Add In the Heart of Babylon to the top of your TBR list today.
I purchased this book because several people on FB said it was amazing. I thought it was just okay. I really liked the premise, but I feel like it was poorly edited. I understand the author wanted to "drop the reader into an unknown situation" just like the characters were dropped into an unknown situation - and that may have worked, if at some point the author had clarified who these characters were (as people) and how they were kidnapped. The reader is just left with too many blanks to fill in. Secondly, the Nazi "bad guys" are so briefly in the book that they barely feel as though they exist. There should be additional development there. I did like the zombie part. That was creative.
Sometimes you just have to outside of your box, and that's what I did when I read In the Heart of Babylon by S.G.D. Singh! I'm not usually a big zombie fan, to be honest, so I had my hesitations when I picked this book up, however, I liked the other work I'd read by Ms. Singh so I gave it a try!
