Karena saya lahir dari keluarga "perminyakan", bergaul dengan anak-anak "perminyakan" sekaligus sempat punya klien yang berhubungan dengan "perminyakan", jadi agak sedikit aneh kalo saya gak memahami soal perminyakan.

Walaupun "Idiot guide" tapi saya merekomendasikan buku ini, bahkan jika hanya sekadar dibaca diwaktu luang.

Buku ini menceritakan tentang politik dibalik perminyakan, cerita tentang 7 perusahaan kelas dunia yang menguasai minyak (also known as The Seven Sisters) yang sebenarnya bermuara dari perusahaan minyak milik Rockefeller yaitu Standard Oil Company (di Indonesia lebih dikenal dengan nama Standard Vacuum Oil Company / Stanvac yang beroperasi di Sumsel). Ironisnya 7 sister ini sudah pada merger menjadi 4 perusahaan.

I noted that one of my colleagues, a veteran Middle East correspondent, was reading this book and so I purchased a copy. It's a useful primer for anyone interested in the economics and politics of the Middle East.
