This biography begins with the explanation of Disney’s worldwide fame. The author takes the taciturnity to inform young reader that despite his “remarkable success” building an entertainment empire was not easy. In fact, Walt Disney faced many failures throughout his early career. This theme of determination despite constant failure is emphasized with great importance, not only in this book but in the others I have read as well.

The text follows Disney’s life in short simple paragraphs on each topic. They are often two or three topics per page and none no longer than two pages. Also there is refreshing honesty in this book. I was concerned to see if any of the biographies would gloss over or omit any of the controversies surrounding Walt Disney. The 1941 strike of his animations does get mention, not only in the first chapter of the book, but also in the later one covering the time period of his work in the 1940’s.

“Many of his workers loved Disney and remained loyal to him, while others resented the long hours and low pay so much that personnel problems at the studio often plagued Disney’s life”

Even in a subject matter that is filled with much joy and happiness, we owe it to our younger generations to be upfront and honest about conflicts that arose in Disney’s career.

I just started reading this book about Walt Disney. It talks about Walt's life and where he grew up and how he grew up. He was born in 1908 and was named after his mother and his mother's pastor at her church. he grew up on his family's farm and had brothers and sisters. even though Walt's family wasn't the richest they still made it though and had fun. This book also talks about Walt's fame and money that he all made. when Walt started to make all his money he devoted all of his hard work and time into repaying his mother for all that she has done for him, since she was a very large impact on his life.one of Walts favorite memory was the first day Disneyland in california open he was so happy because so many people came and had so much fun it was such a huge success for him and a great accomplishment.

Tell more about the characters? Chapter 2 tells everything about him "Walter Elias Disney was born in chicago, Illinois, on December 5, 1901." His parents, Elias and Flora already had three sons---Herbert, Raymond, and Roy. The Disney children were given chores to do everyday. Walt was in charge of the snimals, a job that he loved. Walt named them all and considered a few to be his best friendd. Flora appreciated her son's attachment to the animals. Little did she know that these animals would someday inspire Walt to create his wonderful characters"

Raised on a farm, moves to the city where he aspires to build a cartoon biz. fails, moves to California and tries again, more troubles until he finally punches his golden ticket. Gets into movie making, builds an amusement park and plans another park. RIP.
