Can an alcoholic and a grieving dairy farmer find true love?
After her dad's unexpected death, Emily struggles to run her family's dairy farm. When handsome Frank Reese, a CPA, unexpectedly shows up for an audit, her life drastically changes. Emily is stunned when Frank uncovers a secret about her deceased father - a secret that may change her life forever. Frank is mesmerized by his beautiful, outspoken client. As she tries to sweeten his mood with her mouthwatering milk chocolate candy, he struggles with a problem. His addiction and lack of faith are enough to make Emily leery. Can he overcome his obstacles and heal from his emotional wounds?
Milk Chocolate Kisses is a sweet, emotional and inspiring romance novel.
Cecelia Dowdy is an African American author who writes contemporary romance that always features sweets! The second Candy Beach Series book features Franklin Reese and Emily Cooper. Emily is trying to run the family dairy farm after her father passed away, and Franklin has come at the request of Emily's stepmother to audit the farm records. Emily is a strong, hardworking, Christian woman still recovering from her father's death, while Franklin is a CPA who has lost his wife so is drowning himself in alcohol every night and has no faith to lean upon.
Dowdy is known for her strong faith threads that wind through every single book she writes. I loved the MC in this book who both were trying to overcome problems. Her descriptions of Frank's problems with alcohol and the steps he took to try and end his addition were obviously well researched. I liked how Emily kept trying not to develop a relationship with Frank when she knew he was both addicted to alcohol and not a believer. She showed how hard it is to abstain from someone who is not a believer. I did miss the larger role that candy tends to play in Dowdy's books. There was only a mention or two of homemade candy.

My Speculation:
An enjoyable Christian romance fiction that was simply a good read. I enjoyed how this author puts Emily and Frank together in this series. The characters were outstanding in how they were presented in the story, making it a very relatable read that one will be able to understand the reasoning of the story. 'Can an alcoholic and a grieving dairy farmer find true love?' Pick up "Milk Cholocate' and find out.
I too live in Maryland, wow I love African American writer's. Your books are places I know about, being home. You have great faith, WONDERFUL BOOKS I'm going to read The Candy Beach Series . I love Ocean City. I have a small question, why don't you have on your cover African American people? For great reading and you being a fantastic writer, why wouldn't you find a beautiful woman and man of Color. Just a question, I probably won't hear from you but just think about it, thank you be blessed😇
Beautifully written story of two strangers immediately having a connection regardless of their stations in life. Emily and Frank were total opposites from their levels of faith, backgrounds, personalities and family relationships. Each of them will face hard truths about the struggles and family issues expertly crafted by the author. Love and Faith wins when this ends in an HEA.
Enjoyed the third book in the "Candy Beach series" . After reading the "Bakery Romance series", I knew the this series was in my future. Stories are a delight and always end with someone giving their life to Christ. The four stars would be five because f the many editing mistakes. Grammar was great but better editing is distracting to me.
The road to love is often paved with dust. To find love for these two wasn't easy. Farm life has to be difficult, and yet she loves it. So many times, I thought she might throw in the towel and make candy instead, but Emily was all-in. While Frank's history hadn't been to Emily's liking, but she did ultimately follow her heart, albeit a stubborn heart.
Wow, I really enjoyed reading this book. The author does a fantastic job of bring out hoe God can help couples make it thru really tough times and that they can do anything with God's help. This is a book everyone should read.
Ms Dowdy has done it again. Loved this book and looking forward to the next book in this series. Truly a good read. Loved the characters and a very realistic storyline.
