Alien abduction or mission of mercy ? Prisoner, guest, or hero ? Will a human teenager become the savior of an alien world? Or are appearances more important than reality?

Through a series of accidents and dubious choices, William Faridon, a young man from Earth, finds himself drawn further and further across the galaxy. Caught between Jimmians and Korzons, aliens in a deadly conflict, William is a high school junior, who mostly wants to get back to his family, if he can resist his overwhelming attraction to the lovely young Jimmian queen.

Zequ is the daughter of the ill-fated Crown Princess Cenis and granddaughter of King Andrenough. Just four years into her reign as Jimmian’s sovereign Queen, Zequ is struggling to maintain political power and manage an unpopular war she inherited. Beautiful and secretive, Zequ has plans of her own for her unexpected human ‘guest’. And they are definitely not in William's best interest.

Seventy thousand light years from Earth, the Jimmian star system is a mess of politics and social unrest and their violent Korzon enemy isn’t interested in a negotiated peace. Can William ever get back to Earth and his family? Does he really want to?

Making Choices, the debut entry in The Life of Lord Bagrin, sets the stage for the world-shattering events to come in Vigil of the Watcher, and Worlds at War.

More than a fun romp.

Interesting premise. Enjoyable read. Everything from military/war to palace intrigue/politics. The sister plot line was odd but ok. I thought the tying up/tidying up in the final chapters didn’t go far enough and I was a bit disappointed by the ending - I wanted more and found it seriously anticlimactic but still worthy of a “more” rating.

Different

Honestly, I’m not sure how to classify this book. Alien abduction, YA coming of age, or space opera. Elements of all are there. Although not as much action as I usually prefer, the story is so well paced it does not get boring.

Extremely good

This kept me coming back again and again. It started out so slow but moved very quickly to hold my attention!

A great book with a great perspective in this sci-fi. Looking forward to reading a sequel to this story.
