More romance than mystery. At first the mystery is barely even apparent, though I did immediately guess one part of it. This book does include some interesting characterizations, as it is difficult to determine just who are "good guys" and "bad guys" until the very end. The heroine, Megan O'Roark, is surprised to arrive home from a date at Casino Greystone to discover that her stepfather has locked her out of the house. Thus she seeks a job, and gets one as cook at the Casino and inn. There she meets Jonathan Palmer, who recently inherited the inn, and decided to add the casino, and a group of guests from New York City. There are hints of uneasiness between Jonathan and his guests, and he warns Megan to keep her distance from the men. Megan is disturbed by some of the behavior she witnesses, as well as by Jonathan's changing demeanor. Despite its length, this was a fairly quick read.
