Published in 1983, 'Bomber Squadron at War' is another in the 'at War' series of aviation titles from publisher Ian Allan, although most titles are based around specific aircraft types. This volume is a companion volume to the 1980 publication 'Fighter Squadron at War', and follows much the same format. The book focusses on the wartime operations of a specific RAF Squadron - in this case 101 Squadron - via mainly anecdotal evidence. The period covered is WW1, between the wars, and WW2. The text is very interesting at all times, although there is some repetition of sections used in the previous volume, in particular the class-based system for RAF candidates processed via Cranwell. Unfortunately, the photos supporting all of this seem to be poorly chosen, and often concentrate on people rather than aircraft. Not the best in the series by any stretch, but well readable.
