I read this book to a small group in my daughters first grade class. I’m the hugging kind, but I realize not everyone is. So I let the kids know, if they ever needed a hug, all they had to do was ask. I hugged a lot of children through those elementary school years, I still do. But I let the kids initiate the hugs, not everyone is the hugging kind.
The cover of this book caught my eye. I reminded me of the books I would read as a child. I was curious what topic it was addressing. Many of the difficult topics of today were rarely featured in children's books of my youth.
In this case, Willie stops hugging people when his friend makes fun of him. He learns he really wants to hug but feels like he can't. In the end, he learns to do what he wants and not listen to others. I was a cute book.
This book is fascinating. The main character doesn't want to hug anymore and i think that is silly but the reality is that he just misses his parents. Not everyone is the hugging type.
This story is adorable. A little boy decides hugging is silly and stops, but misses it so much that he, of course, starts again. Because who doesn't like hugs?
Wille's story. I liked the message of this book. The message was that even the unapproachable want a hug. The illustrations helped me to get a greater understanding of the plot line.
