This is one of my favorite sci fi short story books ever. I read it as part of a correspondence class in high school and I still find these stories riveting and influential today in my thirties.

My mom, a middle school teacher, lent me this anthology of science fiction short stories. The stories were all fantastic. The in-between text, setting up each section and story, was laughably dated: the book was originally published in 1976 and reprinted in 1995. I cannot imagine that it went through a 1995 reprint and no one ever thought to update it. The actual stories, though, are all excellent: Asimov, Bradbury, Pohl, Dickson, Dick, Silverberg, and many others. It's a good anthology of stories by classic sci fi writers, giving a good sampling to readers new to the genre. Recommended for your classrooms, as long as you only read the stories and skip all the in-between text.

Pretty good short science fiction stories. We read a few of them for our advanced literature class. I liked it overall. For our science fiction project in class, we created our own utopia society. My group did an amazing job, and my teacher was extremely impressed.

So long science fiction...hello Plato and Socrates.
