Who would have thought there was something more horrifying than an indoor boy being forced to live in the Amazon? Yet, there was. In fact, the more descriptive word would be mind-numbingly terrifying. That it was brought into his life by a drop dead gorgeous man claiming he was there to protect Wylie, only made everything that much more surreal.
Since the first druid came into their lives, Fritjof prayed he would never meet the druid that was destined to be his fated love. He knew that emotion would always lead to devastation and heartache. He’d seen it, experienced it, when his mother disowned him for not being able to save his father.
But what happens when the Fae goes after someone they both love? Will they be able to find a way to trust in each other? Are some things impossible to overcome or is it Mind Over Matter?
PLEASE NOTE: Although each book in this series focuses on a different couple, to best enjoy the overall story arc, these books SHOULD be read in order.
Bestselling author of the Cedar Falls Series, Hart Medical Center Series, Miracle Series, and Paranormal Wars Series, Shea Balik has always had a vivid imagination with stories running around in her head. Often her stories are taken from observations of other people with her own spin.
Traveling is one of her favorite ways of fulfilling her passion of people watching. You never know, one day you may spark her imagination for her next book.
Whether at home or traveling she is usually in front of her computer writing or curled up with a good book.
I liked the story. It's getting harder for everyone, especially as the fae have been upping their game. Wylie is, so far, my least favorite protagonist though. I feel kind of bad for Frtjof and what he had to go through.
so i give this more of a 3.5 but rounded up parts of this just...irritated me haha.. it was overall a good story but i felt like there were some spots lagging for me. these two mc's just felt off.. the claiming was just off.. it was overall not a bad read dont get me wrong but it wasnt my favorite of this series. however i am excited for the next one
Rating: 3 stars I probably would have given this a slightly higher rating except for one main issue. Fritjof and Wiley. They each had major issues that interfered with their mating and I don’t think they overcame them enough that I bought their HEA in the end. Their claiming was pretty painful to read. I’m not sure how you would recover from that as quickly as they did. Threw off the whole story. Hopefully the next one in the series is better.
The latest installment to this fantasy romance series. I did enjoy the twist and turns the overall story took but for some reason I had a hard time connecting with these characters and feeling their relationship I don’t know there was just something missing for me.
This one kind of hurt me. Even with all that Hrafn went through, it didn’t seem to hurt with words the way that Wylie hurt Fritjof. He went out of his way to avoid the man and when finding out what needed to be done to be immortal to rescue his niece, he became so hateful, Fritjof cried. And that broke me.
He was already against love to begin with, because of what his !other said to him, but Wylie put him in the category of never opening up again. Even though he didn’t want to to begin with. But even trying to give Wylie the benefit of the doubt with what he’s been through the past few weeks, it was still heartbreaking and uncalled for. And the pressure is getting worse. With them knowing who Wylie’s niece is, the Seelie didn’t hesitate to come get her. And Tess being half Fae, knew they were coming. But it’s not even kidnapping Tess that’s the worst. They are basically declaring war on the druids by trying to make sure they’re all killed. They’ve found ways to open the Veil more often and quicker and more than just pets are getting through. And with the Seelie, after just one fight, the Vikings knew they were screwed. Closing the Veil seems to be the only way to stop them. But they’ve got to find the other two first and Tess has show who has to go where next. And it’s going to be a toss up who gets there first and what kind of destruction they will find.
The one thing I loved about this book, as bad as Fen was an ass, he actually sacrificed himself to do the right thing. He fought against his own brother and basically opened the Veil for everyone, making him a traitor to be executed. It’s the one time I’ve seen Fen do something that was for the good and not so selfish and I’ve got to say, if he’s truly gone, I might just be a bit sad about that. He’s an ass, but he was trying to do the right thing.
As far as Wylie. I love him. I do. He’s flamboyant and tries to be happy for everyone despite how he really feels, but when he hurt Fritjof, I wanted to bitch slap him. No lie. Fritjof’s own past makes things hard for him. He really does want the love everyone else seems to have but he’s resigned himself to forever being alone and is very close to choosing to give up his immortality. It’s been that hard for him. So Wylie digging at him and hurting him was the worst. Yes, it’s an HEA, obviously, or a combo of HEA/HFN, so Wylie does try to make it right. And everyone deserves a second chance if they truly are sorry and willing to make it right. So, yeah, I’m still cool with Wylie, as long as he’s good to Fritjof.
I’m anxious to see how this series is going to end. Technically, there are at least two more books since there are two more druids to find. But I’m curious how this is going to turn out. I’m sure it will be an HEA, but I’m scared of what the cost might be. We will have to wait and see. In the meantime, if you haven’t been reading this series, you need to.
Book 6 is the time for Fritjjof (1000 year old viking) to meet his druid Wylie that he is cursed with a long life and immortality in order to defend . Both either don't want it, for fear of heartache or of the monsters. But they're meant for each other and string together, especially when they need to work to save they both love. Again, at the rusk of repeating myself and this series, I do that everything I review, well written, wonderful characters, continuation storyline , scary encounters with fae monsters, and of course, hot sex. I'm in love with how Shea Balik creates a world with characters you feel are family.
In the continuing saga of the viking warrior’s being sent out to protect a prophesied druid from the fae it is Fritjof’s turn to find Wylie. He travels to the Amazon and discovers more than he bargained for. Hell bent on keeping his distance from Wylie all while protecting him becomes impossible.
Wylie is a fierce young man who laughs but yet hides his pain behind said laughs. The two get off to a rocky start as they both try to hide how they really feel for one another. It takes being attacked by Wylie’s niece’ father, a fae and him kidnapping her, for them to realize that they need to own up to their feelings if they have any hope of rescuing Tess.
I loved everything about this story. This series must be read in order as each book picks up where the previous one ends with a new couple in each addition. I’m excited to see what else happens in this thrilling series.
Mind Over Matter is the sixth book in the Druid's Curse series by Shea Balik. The story of the druids, their immortal protectors and the fight against the fae continues as Fritjof sets of to find Wylie and his family hiding in the Amazon before the danger gets them. Love at first sight it is not.... but when the danger threatens someone important to them, they realize their mating is needed and that love has somehow snuck up on them. They have so.e steamy chemistry and they are fun characters to get to know. The story has angst, suspense, magic, humor and love... perfect addition to series.
Both MCs were a bit TSTL, but previous books prepared me for them, so...
I think that the only reason that I was ok with Wylie's second chance was because they truly were fated mates. Perhaps I was just expecting the stupidity to come front Fritjof, and the hurt that he's been operating under for the last thousand years that love is tragedy and that the druids are a bit of a waste to protect.
I am excited to see the last two druids get saved, and can't wait to see what choices the team will have to make to qualify for their HEA.
Another great add to the series. Fritjof and Wylie's story was exciting and grabbed me from chapter 1. I liked that it kept me guessing and I wasn't sure how these two were going to find common ground. If you liked the others in the series you'll love this too with magic, sexy and sweet moments mixed with suspense. Can't wait to read more. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
Well this has been my least favorite book of the series. Their claiming had me in tears. Not the happy kind, the sad kind. It was hard to read and reminded me of a rape scene. That might be too harsh of a description, but it was a forced claiming. No love between the two claiming each other like we typically read, just hate and sadness. I couldn’t believe Wylie did that to Fritjof. Then after Wylie was like, “oops, I messed up and I’m sorry.” I’m over here like, “NOW YOU’RE SORRY?!?”

Mind over Matter the newest book in Shea Balik’s Druid’s Curse series! Fritjof the strong Viking warrior did not want to find love and Wylie the flamboyant diva Druid were a match made by the fates. They each gave the other want they needed which was love and understanding. I can not wait for the next installment of this series!
She did it again. Everyone of these books are different and so very good. You just can put them down. And you find yourself wanting to read them more then once. I can not wait to read what happens next.
We’re in book six and the previous book have all been really great. The author has a way of creating such an in-depth world with interesting characters.
Fritjof and Wylie. The rescue of Wylie's part-Fae niece, Tess from the Fae realm, with the battle of Fen and his brother, Omri, (Tess' father). Oluf prepares to rescue Mingus.
