A young stranger walks into a small village on several festive days. He always brings an empty bowl and stops by several women who either ignore him or tell him to get away. One woman each time gives him food and when he comes to warn all the people to get out
of the village, no family leaves except the family who fed him. All the others perish.

African folk tale about helping strangers. The text has repeating story and sound elements and received a hearty thumbs up from my 4 year old.
