You may think the desert is dry, big, and empty. Spend twenty-four hours tracking a variety of desert dwellers and you will discover that the desert is full of life and activity.
This book describes the behavior of thirteen animals that live in the desert. It gives great illustrated examples of how each animal lives, what time of day they hunt for food, and what they eat. I like how this book also lets the reader know what time of the day that each animal hunts and the average temperature of that particular time. It also asks the reader to find the hidden animals on the pages. This is an informative and fun science book that would be great in helping children understand desert wildlife.
The thing I like best about this book is that it tells about different kids of animals that live in the desert AND it tells what time of day those animals tend to be out and about. It's really hard to get a book that talks about animals and then you don't see them. I like that this book tells the time of day first and then tells you all about the animal and its survival characteristics. We still had a hard time spotting animals, but at least we knew what to look for at different times of day.
this book would go great with a science lesson plan. since we live in arizona it would go along and the students would be able it relate with it. it is an informational book.
