I thought it was a great short read on President Carter's journey to his presidency and then during and since this was published in 1986 wrapping it up with what he did shortly afterwards. He was very competitive which got him to the White House. That election he was up against Gerald Ford and my first time being of age to be able to vote. I wish I could recall who I voted for. I was 18 and naive about politics and may have voted for Ford because he was from Grand Rapids and I may have been loyal to that? Carter was a one term President for what seems to be no good reason. After reading this book I'm not sure we gave him proper credit for all he did accomplish. He helped shape and address so many issues at the time. He was human rights activist, he kept peace in the Middle East and successfully brought Isreal and Egypt together to sing a peace treaty. He was a very humble President and walked the talk when it came to conservation practices and saving money. He has been a quiet President after leaving office and has spent his remaining years doing good social work. He probably won't be with us much longer as he is now in hospice as of late. I personally want to thank him for all that he has done for this country and the American people. I will also read his memoir Keeping Faith.
