Trading Horse is a fun story that made me feel like I had my grandpa sitting here regaling the story of how he met and fell in love with my grandma.

You kinda get a feeling there's more to Jim than what needs the eye, but as the story goes on, you become more convinced that appearances are truly deceiving and there's definitely more to the man - even a fancy suit can't hide. Connie is a great match for Jim. Her attitude, charm, and fight keeps him on his toes and keeps her from being boring to him.

It's cute watching them figure the other out and how the meddling of folks around them help to push them along. When you realize just what trading horse means and how it comes into play, you'll find yourself chuckling and shaking your head.

This is a easy-to-read winsome little story to be lost in for an hour or so.

This is my first book to read by Darrel Sparkman and it won't be my last! I already am starting the next! This book made me laugh in so many spots! I just love him and his outlook and thoughts on things. I just need to know if there is a sequel about Jim and Connie. If there isn't I'm going to be disappointed! A great little read!

Darrel Sparkman never fails to deliver amazing plots that grab your attention and keeps his reader’s intrigued. I loved the way the story weaved in a semi-fast pace, but not rushed, as some novella’s portray. Trading Horse will fuel both men and women who love a great historical western.

I loved the dry sense of humor of Murphy, he had me laughing all through the story.
Connie was my type of lady, a strong character which complimented Murphy.
Connie’s stubborn pride was refreshing, just the kind of woman that could tame Jim Murphy.

The word adaption describing the men murdered at the campsite was a great play on words. “A smile under their chin”, was a descriptive & perfect way of giving us reader’s a picture of their throats cut w/out actually coming out and saying it.

The reference to 138 books Connie wants to find, hoping for Murphy’s tale was a perfect ending.
