There are lots of strugglers in Bollywood. There are many who doesn’t want daily grind of the life.
Completer the B. Tech and then MBA, get a secure job, marriage and kids. That is the script every middle class wants their children to follow. Our hero didn’t stick to it and the this led to killing of his father.
The book is thriller. Pace slacks at many times. A tighter editing could have helped.

What the book is all about?

Anuj Tikku’s Yes Sir I Killed My Dad is the brutally honest story of Anuj’s rise and fall in Bollywood, his struggles and his successes, his achievements and his mistakes and finally his involuntary involvement in a murder mystery that shocked the entire nation; a murder mystery that led a nation to believe that he had killed his own father.

The most unique part

One thing that sets this book apart from other celebrity biographies and memoirs is the candidness with which Anuj unveils his past life.

The author’s writing style

Like all his other books, Anuj’s style is candid and conversational. There are parts of the book that become a little repetitive and tiresome. What I like about the writing is that over the course of those 70 odd pages – the narrator assumes many roles – of a regretful son, of a spiritual guide, of a Bollywood insider, of a struggling actor and what not.

What did I like?

I love reading the part where Anuj describes his struggles in Bollywood. An outsider who becomes an insider through the sheer strength of his determination and hard work is something that the reader in me found very interesting.

What I did not like?

Like most of his other books, Yes Sir I Killed My Dad is yet another book that is poorly edited. There are just too many mistakes in the book and it clearly shows that the copy has not even been proofread. This almost takes away all of the joy from a reader and becomes the major issue that pulls the book down.

What could have been better?

At certain times, the narration assumes the tone of lamentation. Initially, it seems okay but after a while, the book reads like a rant. The story doesn’t move forward and the focus shifts from content to ranting.

Yes Sir I killed my Dad by Anuj Tikku .

As the Title suggests the book gives us a scenario of Murder but there is not only a single case but double. Starting of the book feel like a prose .

The book starts with the ghastly scenario of Anuj's father. Then we get to know more about Anuj. About his family struggle, his education and his desire to be a Bollywood star. He has also talked about how he became a drug addict and how it ruined his life.

After finishing Engineering he did his MBA from a top college. He was doing a decent job but the rude behaviour of his boss insisted him to leave the job. His parents especially his mother wasn't happy with his decision. On the other hand his marriage also work.

So he was struggling to be an actor and did some ads . But suddenly his mother passed away and it affects both his father and him .

The language of the book is lucid. Storytelling could have been better. There is a lack of good vocabulary. Also the editing of the book is not done correctly.

I like the way the author has depicted the struggle to be an actor and the hush reality of it.

The plot is fast paced enough but sometimes it feels dragged due to the repetition of the descriptions. He has described his father's emotions in every chapter.

It's an easy quick read .

I want to give it 3/5 ⭐️

[Detailed #BookReview at: https://thinkerviews.com/books/yes-si...]

Truth is stranger than the fiction - we must have heard that umpteenth number of times, right? Reading "Yes Sir, I Killed My Dad!" - a semi-biographical book by Anuj Tikku will remind you the saying again.

The book explores the times before and after the brutal death of Mr. Arun Tikku - father of the author.

After completing his studies Anuj has his career time in the corporate world. But, after doing the regular job for a few years he was tired from the same. He wanted to explore his creative side and thus he joined acting classes. And, as you know, for any Indian, trying to make big in the entertainment industry, coming to Mumbai and getting work in advertisement, TV Show and movies; is in the "To Do" list.

His coming to Mumbai gave him opportunities in some of the ADs and eventually, he started getting fame. But, he was also exposed to the dark side of the entertainment world and success. It leads him to a chain of actions that lead to his father's death. And, he was one of the suspects of the murder!

Views and Reviews:
The book is an emotional account of the brutal incident from the author's perspective. He seems to have written it as the thought flows and thus requires serious editing and proofreading. I had seen that for most of Anuj's recent books this is a problem.

The book explores the relations in a typical Indian family in a quite authentic manner. Be it the father-son bond or mother-son bond, or even about the real friends and opportunistic relatives. The book is nothing less than a thriller from a reader's perspective. And, when you try exploring various public domain media, you will be able to connect the dot and find the links between the incidents written and what is already there in the media about the same. As said earlier, it is an emotional account.

The book also serves the purpose of exploration of the realities of the glamour world, both positive and negative. It also guides you about what to do and what not to. The teenagers should learn about the importance of the elders in their lives through this story. In short, it conveys a lot of life-lessons.

Summary:
A book that should be read from the emotional lens and if the reader is not reading it for just the sake of it, he/she will learn some real life lessons from it. The book requires serious efforts in proofreading and content arrangement, though.

Book Title: Yes Sir I Killed My Dad!: A Sons Grief
Author: Anuj Tikku
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Yes Sir I Killed My Dad!: A Sons Grief ' is mysterious.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is of a man's hand with a dagger dripping in blood. It perfectly matches with the title.

Plot:
As the name suggests, is the story of a son who killed his father. The protagonist Arjun Tikku, an actor who is doing well in career becomes an addict to drugs and ruins his life. On an unfortunate day, his father gets killed. At the same time, Arjun goes missing from the scene. It is reported that the day before his father was killed, something not so willful has happened. What happened that night? Why did he go missing? Did he really kill his father?

What I like:
1. A simple plot
2. Very easy language is used
3. Length of the story

What I didn't like:
1. Many editing including language errors
2. Though a simple  plot, the story seems uninteresting
3. Confusing backstories made the reading slow

Characters:
The characters in the story are plotted well

Narration:
Though the narration is good, unwanted or repetitive narratives made the story a little dry.

Language & Grammar:
Easy language is used in the story. At many places errors, both language-related and grammar-related found. Strong editing would have been done.

My Final Verdict:
A onetime fast read

Book Title: 3/5
Book Cover: 3/5
Plot: 2/5
Characters: 3/5
Narration: 2/5
Language & Grammar: 2/5
Final Rating: 3/5

Yes sir I killed my dad is a contemporary novel revolving around the life of arjun tikku, an actor who is at the peak of his career, but is addicted to drugs. One day his father is murdered and he goes missing. What happened that night? Why did he go missing? Did he really kill his father? Pick this book up to find out.

I had a good time reading this book! The concept around it was unique but it's execution could hv been better.

The language was easy going and lucid. But the book required lots of editing.

The writing style was good and engaging.

The narration was average, it could have been way better so that it could keep me gripped.

The plot of the book required lots of improvements, the plot at times is a flashback one,at times a progressive and sometimes a parallel one. It was very difficult to keep up with the story due to this. I also felt that the narrator was an unreliable one, which if was crafted well could give a whole new shape to the story.

The characters were described well, however its difficult to connect with the protagonist .

The Book has a very slow pace and it takes time to pick up.

The title is pretty innovative but the cover could have been designed better.

Overall, this was a good, read. Its recommend to pick it up if you like listening to the victim's side of the story.

MY RATING: 3.3/5

Yes, Sir, I killed my dad is the story of the victim as he witnesses the unfolding drama of his Father’s Murder. The author tells his story, How he came to Mumbai with a dream of becoming an actor. How his life changed in Mumbai, How his life takes turns.

The plot of the story is interesting with so many twists and turns. What I liked the most is with each chapter the story unfolds with many secrets and clues. What I liked most, is the storyline of the book.

I liked how the author described his journey, struggles for becoming an actor. How he handled the situations when his mother passed away, when he was new in the field of acting. It’s a book with various themes like Loss, love, relationship.
The narration of the story is interesting. The author tries to keep the reader hooked throughout. There are some events repeated by the author which makes the reader a bit tedious. The drama, dialogues and the events sequenced by the author are commendable.

This book could have been a gem with proper editing. The characters that the author developed are relatable. Certain events from the will shake us. The author has built that curiosity from the very first chapter. I would have loved this book if there were more details shared by the author regarding the characters.

It’s a fast-paced, quick read. Overall, it’s a wonderful story.

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Yes Sir I Killed My Dad!: A Sons Grief" by Anuj Tikku

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a Kindle copy of the book for review. **

** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. **

The book title tells a lot about its genre. Yes it is crime thriller but not one among those many in the lots. It starts with a poetic chapter and then carries itself as a prose till the end. The depiction is something which caught my attention.

Also, a crime fiction (or a mix of non-fiction) written in first person of the convict is very rare as a practice and I must say Anuj did a good job. I will not like to say more about the plot as that will destroy the charm of reading for new readers.

The book cover well captures the theme. The only disappointment is the book's presentation. Something is missing which kept me away from absorbing into the story. Might be the overall formatting? Author may hover to find out the reason better than me. So, i choose to leave it upto him to discover the missing link. Otherwise, a good read.

Overall, I would like to rate the book as 3.5*/5*. I will definitely wait to read the author's next book.

Review-
This books makes one get his breath choked for a moment when in the beginning stages it's revealed that the protagonist's father has been brutally murdered and for the rest of the life all he is left to do is stay all alone in this world filled with evil humans in every step you make. I didn't the pace of the book to be much convincing but the way author kept on the plot fixed and stable until the end was something which kept me on reading this book of emotions, suspense and ways of how life takes you on a roller coaster ride at wrong times. Language was lucid and as the title says, it will surely keep you in suspense till the end.

For a book that begins with the sentence “Yes sir I killed my dad,” Anuj Tikku barely manages to thrill his readers. The editing is extremely bad, the book drags in multiple places and I found myself skipping a few too many pages. However, despite its flaws, the one thing that grips you in the honestly with which the story is narrated. The book is a semi-autobiographical narration by Anuj Tikku who was a part of a real-life crime where his father was stabbed to death. Seven years ago, Mumbai police arrested mastermind Vijay Palande and his associates for his father’s murder. The gang had plans of killing Anuj as well, after pumping him with drugs and getting him to sign away his properties. The book takes you through the gruesome events, giving you an insight into Anuj’s journey before and after the crime and dealing with the guilt of feeling partly responsible for the loss of his parent.

I have previously read Blogging for old by Anuj Tikku. So it was really interesting for me to sample a fictional story by him. Yes Sir I Killed My Father is a contemporary tale that revolves around an actor- Anuj Tikku. We are told that he has a complicated past- his mother passed away when he was young and he and his father struggled through this loss. The former even got addicted to drugs.

Soon, there are a series of murders and the protagonist goes missing. If you search about it, you realise that the storyline is inspired by the infamous Tikku Kakkar Double Murder Case. The storyline is extremely interesting and keeps you hooked till the end.

The writing is a bit loose and the book could have done with some more editing. But in a market which is saturated with over the top love stories, Yes Sir I Killed My Dad is a refreshing read. It is extremely interesting and you would certainly enjoy reading it.

'Yes Sir I killed my dad' is a contemporary book written by Anuj Tikku. It revolves around the life of the protagonist who is a successful actor but is a drug addict. It also narrates the struggle behind being a successful actor and the murder of his father. He being the next target.
I found the writing concept and style good however it has lots of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. The book requires some serious editing. The narration was just ok. Could have been better. The plot didn't keep me intrigued. Lots of repetations in the book and few over exaggerated descriptions disappointed me. It is a slow paced book. I found it difficult to connect with the protagonist. The narration is at times in the past, at times in the present while at times parallel this leaves the reader confused. The only thing that I liked about the book is that it is written with utmost honest emotions. The plot, writting, narration could have been better.

I have known Anuj Tikku since ‘Shock Laga’ days. I used to see him a lot on TV and other media places. All of sudden, one day, he made into news headlines for a murder case. I didn’t what and how until I came across this novel. Also, I heard about that guy killing two men, one for BMW and other for a flat through the newspapers. But I never knew that one day I would be reading a novel based on that.

In this novel, Anuj takes us through the events that led to murder of his father, and his ultimate demise to his Bollywood career. Along with that harrowing account, there are many aspects that have been exposed lay open. One thing is sure in Bollywood a lot of drug takes place – that’s bad and it on the whole ruined Anuj’s life.

Overall, the novel was terrific and held an honest narration. Also, how to get into Bollywood – interested? You must read this book, then.

Let me begin with the title of the book - solid 5/5 for making me read the book .. I was like "wait what..." and slowly as i turned pages, i was like "oh, you meant like thaaattt..." (we will talk about that later). Perfectly intriguing for a mystery novel and I love it.
Speaking of the cover of book - typical murder genre novel picture - so I liked it okay okay - 2.5/5.
Let me talk about the content now. The theme revolves around a commoner in Bollywood and the trouble entering there and so on so forth. Concept may sound very generic but the sub plots make it worth the page turn.
It is a decently paced novel and I would rate it 4/5 for the following reasons.
Pros
1. Good english
2. Good pace that cant be said as a con.
3. Very candid that made me feel like a part of the book
Cons
1. Could have changed the narration style for a bit

The books title and blurb are very interesting and so is the cover. It is based on a real life incident. This book is about Tikku Kakkar Double Murder Case. The book’s execution could have been way better and also I think the book requires a lot of editing. The narration was OK nothing great the only reason why I kept reading the book because the storyline was good.
There were several repetitions in the plot and flashbacks word confusing as to whether they were parallel or regressive. The characters were described well. The book has an initial pace which is very slow and does sometimes I felt like keeping the book away. The descriptions of his father is indeed necessary but I don’t think it is required in every chapter so that is one big drawback.

Honestly, when I saw the title of the book I just pick the book to read. It's so eye-catching.
This is a story of Anuj and his struggle to achieve his dream to be a star, to be an actor.
The story starts with a mystery and a ghostly situation of Death.
I loved how the author narrated the struggle one artist (actor) to through while chasing the dream.
At first he did some ad films and after some struggle he got some roles in films. Everything was okay until his mother's death. And then the mysterious death of of his father.
I loved the narration.
But somehow the proper editing was missing in this book.
I loved how the author revealed the clues of the mystery, death in every chapter.
The cover is subjective.
The language is lucid and Clear.
A short and good read.

Imagine being the only person left behind after a brutal series of murders being committed.
You have lost your father to a murderer who is the epitome of heinous crimes.
Imagining is scary but Anuj unlike us had to live with it, he had to face his fears everyday until he decided to push himself to move ahead in life.
The incidents kept the entire city on edge. Vijay Palande and his gang kept up their cruelty for a brief period which was enough to create chaos in our hearts and mind.
It is a gruesome tale of loved ones being snatched away in thin air by people who have turned creatures worse than wild animals.

Yes sir I killed my dad is a semi autobiographical novel narrated by Anuj Tikka who is the survivor of the murder planned against him. The title isn't apt for the book and the storyline is repetitive. The author fails to develop a proper plot to indulge the reader in the mystery. The book has been written with utmost honesty and emotions. There are lots of grammatical, punctuation, spelling and other issues with the book which makes it a recipient of a low rating. The cover couldve been better and the narration is very slow. I had difficulty finishing the book in one sitting. The language used is just fine.

Yes Sir I killed my Dad by Anuj Tikku

Certain events in our life change us forever. It changes our perspective. When I had started reading the book I had no idea what I was getting into.

Yes Sir, I killed my Dad is a part autobiography of the author Anuj Tikku. It talks about the murder of his father and the death of his mother, and how it changed his life. Reading this book was an emotional roller coaster ride for me. The story in itself is an experience that we all go through, later or sooner.

Although a very short read, I wish it was edited properly. The narration felt flat. Overall, it was a good one time read .

I want to give it 3/5 ⭐️

The story is based on a real-life Tikku Kakkar double murder case. It revolves around Arjun Tikku, who is an actor and is addicted to drugs. His father is murdered one day. He goes missing. Who killed his father? Why he goes missing. Pick this book to know the further story.
Easy language is used.
Simple storytelling.
This book needs a lot of editing.
The narration was tolerable.
The plot is seriously weak.
The characterization is good.
It is not a quick read, which is not good for a thriller genre book.
A lot of simple grammatical errors, wrong punctuations and spellings are in the novel.
It is a one-time read.

The cover of the book is not that great i feel it could have been much much better. The title is also scary and straight to the topic of the book. The book starts from episodes of Arjun's life in Mumbai and how his father became a part of these crimes happening around and how it all broke him.
The words are simple and easy to understand. The plot is simple and not really very tough. The pace of the book varies at times. The characterization was alright as well. The book does involve in bringing alot of thrill to the reader.

A simple story with thrill wrapped in two stories across. Overall an alright read.

This book deals with a double murder case and how it got highlighted. This story is about Anuj tikku and his struggles with his failed marriage, drug addiction, murder, professional life. How the death of his mother affects him and his dad. How his bollywood life turns out to be a hell of the life.
The book in between seems to be a bit dragged and the editing has to be done. Because of the editing I was looking my interest here and there

The book is about Tikku Kakkar double murder case which shook us all. It is simplistically narrated story and very easy to understand. But what you read are facts presented factually and emotionally. I finished reading this book in a single sitting. It was a page turner for me, an unputdownable read.
