1992 Gold Medallion Award winner! Value priced! Now art lovers can experience the inspiration of Handel's classic Messiah through Botts's expressive calligraphy. His full-color artwork is a visual orchestration of the entire text of the Messiah.
Timothy Botts is an American artist, calligrapher, and educator best known for transforming biblical passages into expressive works of visual art. Raised in Pennsylvania, he discovered his artistic talent at an early age with encouragement from a dedicated teacher who nurtured his abilities throughout his school years. His fascination with lettering began in childhood and deepened while studying graphic design at Carnegie Mellon University, where he was introduced to calligraphy. After graduating, he married and spent three years in Japan teaching conversational English, an experience that also exposed him to Japanese brush writing. Over the years, Botts developed a distinctive visual language that blends color, varied lettering styles, historical scripts, and contemporary influences. His scripture-based murals have appeared in churches, schools, and hospitals, while his artwork has also been widely published in books and other media. An experienced teacher, he has taught calligraphy courses, led workshops across the United States, and presented at international calligraphy events.
I love Handel's Messiah and Botts truly does it justice in this volume. He provides scant commentary here and there on his artistic choices, but really, the word pictures tell all.
