Hood Luvin' From a White Boy

Rate this book
There’s no feeling better than being treated like a queen and having your sexual desires fulfilled by a black man. However, when Javo, a sexy, charismatic white man with the swag to match enters the scene, he becomes every woman’s fantasy.

After being abandoned in a dumpster in the hood like trash at just two weeks old, a black family finds him and raises him. Growing up in the black community, Javo naturally develops a swag that attracts black women. When he meets Mahogany, a beautiful, dark-skinned woman who has no interest in dating outside of her race, he turns on his charm and makes her second guess her preference.

Being dark-skinned, Mahogany has always felt that she wasn’t good enough, especially after facing betrayal over and over again from the black men whom she'd always put on a high pedestal. All of her thoughts and feelings began to change when Javo comes into her life and is blown away by her beautiful, melanin skin.

Mahogany will soon find out that Javo isn’t like the trifling low down men that she’s dated in her past.

Unexpectedly Enjoyed

While the writing wasn’t always the best (I wish the author would have done more showing instead of telling) I actually found this book to be really interesting. I’ve never read anything like it and I spent the entire day at work telling my coworkers about it. I like that there is a slow burn romance forming between the two main characters and that it wasn’t rushed. I also appreciated the fact that we got insight to the lives of each of the characters. Some aspects of the plot are predictable especially with Javo’s sick and twisted biological father. I want to see more character development for Mahogany and Germaine. I’ll definitely be picking up the second book.

I don't usually write a review.....

I don't usually write a review unless my reading experience is really really good or very very bad!! It started out good but I don't think it was thought out all the way!!! I would have liked for the drama to slowly escalated not boom bam pop here it is!! In my opinion it was not a great read

This four-book series that I consumed over a weekend was entertaining. I was interested to see how this interracial romance would play out. It is not always easy with a character like Javo to make him believable and have him integrated into his adopted culture properly. However, this author did a good job of creating a believable character. His "adoption" bordered the fine line between real and unreal. Real because kids are left the way he was every day. Unreal because of how easily he was found. Mahagony's & Javo's exes were the perfect villains for a moment. However, Javo's parents were the ultimate villains. I enjoyed each scene with them. The author delivered a well-written story that flowed well. If you want something other than the typical "dope boy" and "bad girl", I think you will enjoy this series. Get your copy of book 1 below to get started and don't forget to leave a review in support of the author.

Good Stuff

This story starts out with so much promise on how good its going to be but along the way it gets lost. I know the story is centered around Javo and his life and that's great, I would have liked a bit more about him and not just his background. The story gives us a look at his life but doesn't flesh it all the way out. Now on to Ms.Mahogany, who for a counselor is so naive. I mean I get your depression over what has happened to you but your common sense must have escaped. This was an interesting story and moments where you a very entertained. But there are moments when you get a feeling that something is missing. Overall this was a good story, I just want more ,flesh the characters out more and give a little bit more dialogue and description. Looking forward to the next installment because there are going to be some big fireworks!

Exciting read!

Can’t wait to see what happens in book 2! Javo and Mahogany will make a great couple if Diamond don’t start no mess. Javo is definitely Mahogany’s White King that is totally sweeping her off her feet.

I was all in and I loved Javo. It was crazy just how much Mahogany experienced from the men she encountered. Dontavius was a sorry excuse for a man and I wish Mahogany knew just how far he took things. I felt bad for Rochelle because she went out of her way to raise someone else's child after losing her own. As much as Javo wanted to know about himself, he'll soon learn he might've been better off not knowing. Sharon Ann and Joe deserve whatever comes their way and I feel as though Joe's responsible for a lot of what's going on around them. Hopefully something more will come from Mahogany and Javo's friendship.

I’ve never read about a white man in urban fiction, so this caught my attention. Some poor editing, cringe at points, and a lil repetitive, but it was entertaining and kept me interested. Glad there wasn’t any of the stereotypical drug dealing storyline either and I thought it was cool that we got Javo’s biological parents’ POV as well. And about halfway through, I realized Jones was going back in time to show us Javo and Mahogany before her date with Blaze. That part could’ve been clearer. I’ll read the next book in the series cuz this was too short.

Not what I expected

This title threw me off from the actual story. Javo is not your average white man. I was a little disturbed by his sex with the two women on the beginning. Is this day and time protection is EVERYTHING. The cliffhanger was really good and I can’t wait to read the next installment.

I fell in love with Javo immediately. He definitely had game and a little edge to his character. His feathers didn't get ruffled easily. The way he carried himself even when faced with not so mature people was commendable. He didn't try to be something he wasn't and he was a gentleman.

I loved it

The twists and turns in this story were great. I know Joe is a demon just by how he acts. Javo is my kinda guy he's an alpha male for sure I can't wait for him to get Mahogany's attention.

I love it!

I definitely could relate to Mahogany, but at the end of the day, I am ready for more of Java fine behind. As a dark mocha beauty that loves white chocolate herself, I am just ready to read the rest of this segment. Sha Jones is definitely a talented beauty, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store. Also, this will be added to my Book Club as well.

Serial Alert

Despite the profanity this was a good story, but I doubt I would have gotten it had I known it was a serial.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book, I thought it was going to be weird cosplay foolishness but it wasn’t. I’ll read anything where a black woman (especially dark skin) is loved and appreciated out loud.
I loved how they didn’t get together in this book, a good friendship was developed which I really liked.

Not the typical storyline

This book was a breath of fresh air. It wasn’t the same storyline of drug dealers and broken females that I am use to reading. Can’t wait to see the outcome of everything.

Humm...it was ok...some issues and resistance but still ok!!!

First time reading this author and knowing how bias I am for this type of romance (interracial;preferably white man black woman type), I am extremely partial to this story. That said and with all this to consider, I am still weary, resisting and having some issues with it.
From my understanding, Mahogany has some self esteem issues and doesn't think too much of herself while Javo seems to have had a huge deficit in life being white in a black neighborhood and environment, not knowing who he belongs to but still had a huge foundation and came out on top. All that is all good but why 1) would he want to disturb the peace? 2) why there are no mention of family for Mahogany? And finally is anyone doing anything protected, I mean the scene with the mind frame of "one life to live and if he were to contract anything, then he will deal with it ~~~so he proceed to put his mouth..." Man that was so disgusting and so messed up....
Again, I will stop at that because I have so many other issues and all (again being that this is my favorite genre to read and its in my next top setting ~ urban, hood, gangster type) there a several things that I have picked up on and I will wait until I see if anything changed in the other installments to give a perfect review (well perfect in my view)!!!
Let's see and read the next step and see if it improves, changed, or/and enlightened!!!

I might be crazy. I both hate this book but need to know what happen. Tons of people love this book so if you are reading my review take this with a grain of salt(or the whole shaker).

I liked Javo, but everyone else made no sense.
How mama Rochelle get the papers to keep him, small issue. She so desperate to be a good mom but Germaine’s behavior goes unchecked?

Mahogany...a counselor who let a lying man explain away a wife with one half ass conversation and she showering to be fresh for when he get there. He didn’t eve have a good story. He says get an abortion and when she doesn’t and he poisons her she don’t tell doctors, police, no one. She just loses the baby, but mons the baby and Germaine?!? HE POISONED YOU!? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? This chick could be in a room full of men and would find the one Freddie Kruger, or Harvey Weinstein(Blaze). Seriously, what was her fucking criteria? No one deserves all the shit that happens to her but she keeps walking into smoking rooms expecting not to find 🔥 flames.

All this irritation and I’m still gonna read the next book and probably be irritated when more dumb shit happens which makes me no better than Mahogany’s dumb ass.

Tons of people love this book, ignore me, I might be crazy too.

If you think they are doing dumb shit in this book please like this review so I know I’m not alone.
