Discusses the impact of growing up in a dysfunctional family, explains why codependents come to fear happiness, and offers advice on developing a more positive attitude towards life
Read it in one sitting and it was very enlightening. A lot of what the author discusses rang very true for my own childhood and especially the fears of taking risks and making changes in life. I grew up a Jehovah's witness in a controlling, neglectful, and dysfunctional environment and after I left that religion have dealt with many issues this book touched on nicely, including staying in a toxic relationship for years before divorcing and never feeling good enough, plus putting up with intolerable circumstances due to fear of the unknown. Some things to think about and work toward in furthering my own recovery from those situations. I pray this information will help me and others to relax and enjoy life more and I would recommend it to others suffering from depression, anxiety, or self worth issues.
