A thorough, illustrated biography discussing the president's childhood, his career, his family, and his term as President of the United States. Includes a time line and glossary.
This is a quality age-appropriate book. I read it with my 9-year-old daughter as part of our homeschool curriculum. The book follows his life, before, during, and after the presidency. It addressed the fact that Jefferson owned slaves and how it conflicted with his true beliefs, but in an age-appropriate way. I liked that vocabulary words were printed in bold and included in the glossary. The illustrations and captions followed the text well. This is an overall good introduction to Thomas Jefferson and early American concepts and conflicts.
