Thank you Sheri for letting me read an ARC of your new book! This is a sweet little story of a dragon who learns to overcome his anxiety issues. When I read this book I immediately thought of several kids I know who have trouble expressing their anger in a constructive way. The little dragon immediately regrets the damage he caused after an angry outburst which leads to guilt and feeling ashamed. I think all kids can identify with the little dragons embarrassment when he is laughed at for expressing himself in what he thought was a safe and loving environment. Overall, a very cute book with a few lessons on controlling your emotions and opening your heart to new friendships.

If readers ever wanted a little dragon to be their best friend, the one in this book might just be the one they've been looking for.

The Little Dragon is such a sweet, carefree, and playful creature, who likes to dance with its whole heart. One day, when its dancing is especially carefree, it hears a rustle and a giggle in the trees. Sure enough, someone is there watching but the Little Dragon can't discover who. The embarrassment buries deep into its chest and before the Little Dragon knows what happens, its burnt down a tree. The only remedy to solve this emotional drama is to forbid dragons from ever entering its territory. But things are never that easy.

This book radiates happiness and color, fitting perfectly in with the Little Dragon's own personality. When disaster strikes, it's easy to sympathize with him, although his solution will definitely have young listeners shaking their heads and wondering what this little dragon is thinking! It's a wholesome read which brings the message across in an enchanting, fairy tale way.

The illustrations are bright and bold, and have the atmosphere of a cartoon...which kids are sure to enjoy. The happiness streams from every page, and it's easy to follow the story. Even when a reader isn't available, the youngest will enjoy glancing through and accompanying the Little Dragon on their own.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed the tale enough to want to leave my honest thoughts

The Little Dragon loves to dance in his special meadow, but when he discovers that someone is watching him and giggling, he starts to feel emotions he’s never felt before. Embarrassed, anxious, and a little angry, the Little Dragon sets out to make sure no one enters his meadow, but he soon learns that there may be a better way to deal with his emotions...and he may make a few new friends in the process.

Sheri Fink’s The Little Dragon is another cute and sparkling book in her picture book The Little Series. Through charming storytelling, fun text, and an endearing main character, the author crafts a darling tale full of magic, whimsy, and sweetly delivered valuable lessons.

Another wonderful heartwarming educational message from author Sheri Fink. In The Little Dragon, our little friend learns how to open up and share, rather than shrink back in fear and embarrassment or even anger. This book is illustrated by Lynx Studios. The images are colorful, round, and soft, inviting young readers to not be afraid and like the little dragon, open themselves up to friendships.

Hello, friends! Our book today is The Little Dragon, written by Sheri Fink and illustrated by Lynx Studios, a tale about embarrassment and acceptance.

There once was a little dragon who lived happily and peacefully in a beautiful meadow, one filled with flowers and his cozy cave and starlit skies. One of Dragon’s favorite things to do in his meadow was to dance, and he would do so joyfully whenever he had the opportunity… until one day, he realizes that someone is watching. He sees movement and hears giggling in the shadows of the tree line, and is immediately overcome with an emotion he’s never felt before. He feels a hot rumble rolls up from his belly through his face and chest, and he feels angry and hurt. This results in a tantrum that causes him to nearly destroy one of his beloved meadow’s trees! Determined to never let this happen again, he decides to take action: he will find out who the giggler was, and make sure they never return to his peaceful place. Learning from the meadow’s birds that it was a dragon, he decides that dragons are not welcome in his meadow (not realizing that he, himself, is a dragon). But when the giggling dragon reappears, how will he handle his temper?

Ambitious yet uneven. There are some truly great moments, like the fantastic kid-language description of embarrassment that feels utterly universal, and the message that we should not push others away or exclude them based on awkward first impressions. The giggler turns out to be another dragon, and after a clever exchange in which she explains that Little Dragon is a dragon too, he sees that she is friendly, and he invites her to dance along. It’s a sweet ending, but it left me wanting a little more, especially after the fantastic set-up about self-consciousness. I wish that Dragon’s emotions and his overcoming them had gotten a more definitive resolution. However, this is still a very nice story, and it’s accompanied by gentle, colorful illustrations that younger readers will love. The length is fine, and JJ enjoyed it. Baby Bookworm approved!
