CHAPTER 2 OF 3! Continuing Prodigal’s journey home from FANTASTIC FOUR: THE PRODIGAL SUN #1, the one individual who can aid him in accomplishing it is the Silver Surfer. But Prodigal has a history with the Surfer. Witness that now as we see the Surfer, back when he was still the herald to Galactus, as Prodigal battles him to prevent Galactus from destroying an entire world because of his unending appetite.
Peter Allen David, often abbreviated PAD, was an American writer of comic books, novels, television, films, and video games. His notable comic book work includes an award-winning 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk, as well as runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, SpyBoy, Supergirl, Fallen Angel, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Captain Marvel, and X-Factor. His Star Trek work included comic books and novels such as the New Frontier book series. His other novels included film adaptations, media tie-ins, and original works, such as the Apropos of Nothing and Knight Life series. His television work includes series such as Babylon 5, Young Justice, Ben 10: Alien Force and Nickelodeon's Space Cases, which he co-created with Bill Mumy. David often jokingly described his occupation as "Writer of Stuff", and he was noted for his prolific writing, characterized by its mingling of real-world issues with humor and references to popular culture, as well as elements of metafiction and self-reference. David earned multiple awards for his work, including a 1992 Eisner Award, a 1993 Wizard Fan Award, a 1996 Haxtur Award, a 2007 Julie Award and a 2011 GLAAD Media Award.
I’m still not sure why I should care about this character, but the story is building and I’m interested in seeing the continued buildup. My guess is they’re going to try and launch a new series staring this Prodigal guy, but it’s 100% gonna be like that Monsters Unleashed series, (a flop).
4.5 stars. Man I promise this is one of my favorite new series. Shame it’s only got one more issue ( at least I think) We get a little back story of Prodigal and see him go up against Silver Surfer, which was dope.....both encounters. Anyway, looking forward to the next issue.
It's all flashback, which doesn't really help the plot, but it was good to see Pro'd'ghul in his hero role, and maybe what causes him to be cast out of his home. But that's just the problem too--there's no advancement in the story.
Great battle between Pro'd and Silver Surfer, though. Probably one of the best battle debuts for a character in ages. This, much more than Fantastic Four: The Prodigal Sun (2019) #1.
