He was a member of the Society of the Inner Light, an offshoot of the Alpha et Omega, which in turn was an offshoot of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

I have so many opinions about this book and most of them are not good, so I will kindly say that if you want informative background into the story of the Golden Dawn then this is worth a read, otherwise... some books are best left unread.
