Here is the inside story of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, told in its entirety for the first time. Francis King describes the conflict between W. B. Yeats and Aleister Crowley, the often difficult relationship between Yeats and Kabbalist MacGregor Mathers, and Rudolph Steiner's attempt to take over English occultism. With consummate scholarship, King has created a definitive modern history of the Western esoteric tradition.
Francis X. King was an occult writer and editor who wrote about tarot, divination, witchcraft, magic, sex magic, tantra, and holistic medicine. He was a member of the Society of the Inner Light, an offshoot of the Alpha et Omega, which in turn was an offshoot of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
I have so many opinions about this book and most of them are not good, so I will kindly say that if you want informative background into the story of the Golden Dawn then this is worth a read, otherwise... some books are best left unread.
