Optics, Retinoscopy, and Refractometry

Rate this book
The Basic Bookshelf for Eyecare Professionals is a series that provides fundamental and advanced material with a clinical approach to clinicians and students. A special effort was made to include information needed for the certification exams in ophthalmic and optometric assisting, as well as for surgical assistants, opticians, plus low vision, and contact lens examiners. Optics, Retinoscopy, and Refractometry combines information on all three topics to allow the reader to better understand and measure the patient's refractive error. The text opens with an explanation of physical, geometric, and physiologic optics, including the schematic eye. This is followed by a discussion of retinoscopy and refractometry, covering equipment, detailed how-to's, and trouble-shooting. The Appendices contain data on the metric system, units of measurement, metric conversions, abbreviations, and refractometric exercises.
