I read the 1931 Viking edition. This odd little book is a collection of newspaper quotations of positive predictions of the American economy complied by Edward Angly from 1928 to 1931, starting and ending with Calvin Coolidge. Negative news is given in red type. At a time before the FDIC, where there was a danger of runs on the banks, financial leaders repeatedly tried to calm fears about the health of economy by putting out rosy and positive predictions as the country went into the Great Depression.
