This book is sometimes a bit dry and repetitive, but it's also full of useful information. In the 21st century, every library professional has to have some knowledge of fundraising, and it's a sorely under-taught subject in library schools. This book will take you a long way towards understanding the basics. I had to read all of it for an absolutely phenomenal philanthropic studies class in my graduate program, and though that was supplemented with guest speakers, exercises, and other incredibly valuable information, I thought this book had an enormous amount to add, as well. It's also incredibly cheap, and seems to be on Amazon as a library discard coast to coast. Ironic, given that actually reading this volume would have made the libraries selling it a lot more than the +/- $7 asking price online. Highly recommended if you're in the profession and want to learn the basics of philanthropy.
