Another good linguistics book by professor Haugen, this volume seems to cover the issues better than his earlier work on the Scandinavian languages. For a slim survey, the book manages to pack a lot of information between its covers. It was a great help studying for my 'History of the Scandinavian Languages' survey course. I should re-read it, to refresh my knowledge of the subject/rekindle my interest.
