Twelve Dead Men Speak

Rate this book
Examines the words of the biblical minor prophets and finds their words resounding, speaking to us as they spoke to their contemporaries: exhorting, encouraging, warning, chastising, and addressing both the people of God and the governments/societies of the nations.

A very slight and conservative commentary on a very diverse set of Biblical books. It attempts to relate the minor prophets to the contemporary world but resorts to sweeping generalisations about both and intragesis rather than exegesis with little real respect for the form or context of the original texts, indeed even much recognition that understanding this is important in interpreting these or any scriptures. The cover and topics touched on are relatively contemporary but the approach is reminiscent of 1960s Stott without his textual rigour or ability to hold word and world together.

Not as creepy as the title makes it out to be. Superb read.
