Seven Six One is emotional, slow-moving, and detailed to a fault, making it a tough recommendation. If you’re former military of any kind, you’ll likely have an easier time engaging with it. If you’re not, the book can feel sluggish, especially given the sheer volume of military terminology thrown in without much explanation.
That said, if you can push past the first 70 pages, you might find your footing. It’s rough around the edges—an unrefined gem—but I enjoyed it enough to say it’s worth considering.

There are few books I'm not able to finish. I usually push through even my least favorite novels. Unfortunately, I just couldn't force myself to finish "Seven Six One." I'll likely revisit it, but for now, I'm done.
It isn't that "Seven Six One" isn't interesting. In fact, I thought the concept was something I'd like to read (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have picked up the book). My issue comes in with the writing. I find that the way the auther spins his words and formats his sentences and paragraphs is rather odd. Sentences are too long, paragraphs are weirdly sorted, and the analogies are at times confusing (at least in my opinion). Because of this, I found reading this novel to be nearly impossible.
Maybe when I return to this book, I'll be rather embarresed by what is a rather closed minded review of a book I didn't even finish. However, for now, these are my thoughts.
