Martin Luther King, Jr.---Spirit-led Prophet tells the compelling story of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr pastor, theologian, scholar, orator, civil rights leader, martyr. Spirit-led Prophet chronicles Kings activities illustrating his nonviolent faith and how he lived it out in his ministry. In the midst of a tumultuous public life, King prayed for guidance and depended upon Gods spirit to lead him. Despite the cruelty and violence of the forces arrayed against the movement, King stressed the necessity to love ones enemies, to believe that unearned suffering is redemptive and to have faith in Gods just purposes. Refusing to limit his mission to civil rights, he wrote and spoke passionately against the war in Vietnam and on behalf of the worlds poor. He repeatedly returned to his call for the Beloved Community and the building of a just and peaceful social order. Kings influence continues to grow beyond his death with his vision of nonviolent liberation and the final reconciliation God is calling us to spreading around the world.
Für meinen Geschmack zu schwärmerisch und zu religiös geschrieben. Regt aber an manchen Stellen trotzdem zum Nachdenken an und erweiterte meine bisherigen Kenntnisse über Martin Luther King und seine Zeit.
I think I have read most books of Dr. King, and I think I can objectively say this is one of the best. I know it is totally researched and written from actual experiences with Dr. King. Richard Deats has spent his life in nonviolent work towards ending poverty, racism and war - the three evils Dr. King addressed with his life's work. Richard spent most of his life within the leadership of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, an organization that Dr. King sat on the Executive Board, and I was privileged to sit also.
I like the way it really teaches you a lesson. The way it tells you not to give up.He really reached for his goals which inspires me a lot. He has been a hero for me and everyone.
