About the author

Israel Knox was a professor of philosophy at New York University from 1951 until his retirement in the late 1970s. A graduate of the City College of New York, he earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1936 and was director of the English-speaking division of the Workmen's Circle from 1937 until 1947.
