"Wild Turkeys: Hunting and Watching" was a very informational and helpful read. I just started getting into hunting turkeys more this year and yearned to know more about the creature before I tried to hunt them. I have learned an ample amount of information. There were also many recipes included, which I appreciate and cannot wait to use once I bag my bird this season.
I went hunting in my backyard yesterday after reading through some of the book. I took the points of keeping still, being quiet, calling just enough, sitting with level ground in front of me, and leaning against a tree that completely hides me from behind. After about half an hour, a tom comes out gobbling! My heart never beat so hard in my life as I realized that I successfully called in the very thing I've been reading about. He got so close to me, easily 5 feet away at one point. I was unsure if I should raise my gun or if it would scare him away too fast, so I let him pass by, hoping he would come back and walk behind one of the bigger trees. That moment never came unfortunately, but I had a hell of a time! I am officially hooked :) Thank you for the tips and information!
