More than 350 full-color photographs complement a tour of the most beautiful gardens of Hawaii, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Bali, presenting a wide array of public and private gardens along with a detailed discussion of garden design, plant selection, history, and cultural traditions.
A useful book if you are planning to plant a tropical garden in your backyard. The book is not instructional so it does not really explain the design process when creating a tropical landscape, but anyone can get a large number of ideas and transform them into something practical.
It contains more than 200 colour illustrations of tropical flora from countries such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hawaii, Sri Lanka etc. The pictures are illustrative but not big enough and I did not see much of an artistic originality in them as far as photography is concerned. But still looking at the pictures in this was a relaxing process.
The introduction has a brief history of the interchange of ideas between the tropics of Asia and the exploring nations of Europe as to garden design. The featured gardens in this book are grouped into Religious and Royal, Botanical, Colonial etc.
