A "memoir" of the Stravinsky Festival 1971 by the New York City Ballet. The book contains quotes from Stravinsky and Balanchine on the creation of the works presented in this 7 day marathon of 35 Stravinsky works: 30 choreographed, 20 of them new/world premieres. There are in-depth descriptions of the processes taken to present such an accomplishment. There are beautiful pictures by Martha Swope, reviews by various journals and news outlets, and a history of how City Ballet came to be. If you are intrigued by the creative process, you will want to read this book. It is a gem, very much like the Koch Theater and the NYCB.
